Minimal Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree;
* 1 year experience related to financial aid.
* Master's Degree preferred.
* Minimum Education Qualification can be substituted with an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.


Preferred qualifications:
Preference will be given to individuals who possess:

  • PeopleSoft Student System experience
  • Experience with ImageNow/WebNow or other imaging software
  • Experience determining eligibility, awarding and monitoring financial aid awards
  • Knowledge of state and federal aid regulations, policies and procedures
  • Experience with Missouri Department of Higher Education Workforce Development software system
  • Experience with excel spreadsheets
  • Customer service skills
  • Attention to detail




Work Hours
Normally scheduled 8:00 am - 6:00 pm, Monday through Thursday and 8:00am - 4:30pm Friday; however, may be required to work other shifts to include days, evenings and/or weekends. Candidate will be responsible for working rotating shifts. Schedule subject to change based upon department needs.


Compensation
The annual salary is $51,191-$54,262. A competitive benefit package is included.

Class Summary
Incumbents provide comprehensive information and services to students and prospective students in single areas or across a number of disciplines that may include admissions, financial aid, academic advising, records and transcripts, career services, international students, and disability services. Major duties and responsibilities include: coordinating academic support programs; assisting students with enrollment, registration, financial aid application, and other student support services; providing referrals; preparing and reviewing records, forms, and documents; preparing correspondence and reports; reconciling accounts; processing payments or refunds; maintaining database; completing Federal verifications; and providing support to supervisors, counselors, managers.

Typical Essential Duties

  • Provides assistance to students and campus Financial Aid personnel by providing advice and information related to financial assistance programs, academic services and offerings, and enrollment processes; work may involve responding to inquiries via phone, email, or in person; and reviewing information to determine program, aid, and scholarship eligibility.
  • Direct contact with students is minimal, but is necessary in some instances. Incumbents major duties may include: awarding student Federal, State, Institutional, Foundation, and Third Party aid through batch and individual processes; monitoring the accuracy of awards, files exchanges with outside agencies, changes in enrollment and academic progress; verifying student files and determines eligibility; requesting and returning aid; reconciling accounts; ensuring compliance and maintaining a thorough and up-to-date understanding of Institutional policies and procedures.
  • Provides advising, troubleshooting and supporting functions to campus financial aid advisors, managers, deans, directors, instructors and front-line staff on the eligibility of all the different student aid programs. Serve as the financial aid subject matter experts for the areas they are responsible for; analyze complex situations and find solutions.
  • Researches and stays abreast of federal guidelines regarding verification, DoE rules and regulations, and Federal Student Loan regulations.
  • Processes financial aid applications, appeals, and/or returns of financial assistance; reconciles accounts; ensures that all information is accurate; and recommends, tracks, approves, and/or awards individual awards/scholarships.
  • Prepares, maintains, and/or reviews reports, records, promotional materials, and other documentation; work may involve utilizing online systems and databases to record information; and compiling, researching, and analyzing information.
  • Coordinates with internal and external staff, departments, and agencies, to communicate information, provide recommendations, represent the College, and facilitate departmental operations.
  • Assists with/or develops special programs relating to financial aid that provide services to the College's community. Incumbents provide guidance and support to campus financial aid staff.
