Salary Range: $19.29-$24.43 Depending on qualifications.

4th Shift Position: 4 days on/4 days off; 12 hour shifts

SUMMARY:
To monitor and operate the juice filters in a safe, sanitary and approved manner. This also includes the proper operation of the Koch membrane filtration system by initiating corrections and adjustments to equipment as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Other duties may be assigned. All of the following are to be performed while adhering to Tree Top operational policies, procedures, safety rules, and good manufacturing practices.

  • Operates and monitors the plate/frame and membrane units to conform to production, maintenance and quality standards.
  • Identifies problems and initiates adjustments for efficient and optimal operation.
  • Verifies connection of feed/discharge piping and levels of feed/discharge tanks for proper product flow.
  • Extracts product samples and determines brix, clarity, pectin and starch levels to ensure proper quality production.
  • Dispenses enzymes to a level determined by quality control specification.
  • Cleans and sanitizes filters and associated piping and tanks in a timely manner.
  • Disposes of filtration waste product as needed.
  • Performs pectin checks on all treat tanks.
  • Informs Supervisor in a timely basis of all operational problems encountered and what action was taken to resolve the problems with recommendations to prevent reoccurrences. This includes the documentation of operation trouble spots for corrective action.
  • Calculates and records product flow data completely, concisely, accurately and legible.
  • Forecast and allocate tank space and juice movement based on production demands.
  • Communicates and coordinates with Extraction Operator and Concentrator Operator to ensure efficient product flow.
  • Responsible for addressing potential food safety and quality issues of the product.
  • Coordinates oneself in a professional manner, working safely, taking precautions in preventing product and/or equipment damages and losses, cooperating with co-workers and maintaining good housekeeping practices at all times.
  • Direct the work of other employees assigned to the area.


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; climb or balance, talk or hear and smell or taste.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds and rarely lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision to read specifications and warning labels and to sort products, distance vision to operate lift trucks, color vision to sort product color coding, peripheral vision to operate forklift and operate line, depth perception to go up or down stairs and ladders, and the ability to adjust focus to sort product, to read labels, and specifications. Ability to use fine motor skills to operate small hand tools, calculators and lab equipment.

The employee frequently works around moving mechanical parts; exposure to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme heat; occasionally exposed to vibration, toxic or caustic chemicals, and fumes or airborne particles; noise level is usually loud.
