Job Summary:

This position is required to design and implement the company's procurement strategy for various commodity materials with alignment to total business direction & priorities, and to develop a global supply base that facilitates low cost, high quality and timely delivery of material to production in factory. This role requires demonstrated knowledge and innovation of materials sourcing and purchasing in a continuous improvement environment that supports the activities including develop low cost and high quality suppliers/products, negotiate favorable terms and conditions for the company, shorten the overall lead time of the material supply by providing oversight role for vendor managed inventory and consignment programs. Ultimately to make supply chain of the company a competitive advantage of the business. While our preference is for the role to be Indianapolis based, we are open to candidates located at other Belden locations.

Responsibilities:




  • Identifies, develops and maintains strong sourcing processes and procedures within ISO 9001 requirements and company policy.
  • Develops and implements raw material procurement strategies that achieve the company's yearly cost savings targets.
  • Manages supplier engagement and evaluation program in a way that ensures the accurate assessment of our suppliers' total performance, maintains and enhances the relationship with strategic partners.
  • Creates and manages the raw material supply chain resilience program by mitigating losses due to potential shortages while maintaining competitive prices.
  • Engages with the R&D engineering team and the plant, allows procurement strategies to be aligned with overall business goals, helping to drive the total efficiency and effectiveness across operations.
  • Develops and submits annual budget numbers and strategic plan for the procurement in all raw materials categories.
  • Provides reports and analysis on procurement activities and performance metrics to management, and keeps management advised of any developments that may affect supply chain operations.
  • Engages and inspires the team to meet or exceed job responsibilities, while also working to build talent for succession planning within the organization.


Required Skills and Experience




  • Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain Management, or Industrial Engineering.
  • At least 6+years' experience of sourcing, purchasing or supply chain. Proven track record of cost reduction, resilience supply chain and other sourcing achievements.
  • Experience managing raw material sourcing for multiple manufacturing sites, wire and cable background is preferred.
  • Project management experience with a proven track records of achievement in delivering project within cost, time and quality expectations.
  • Strong business case modeling and financial forecasting skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills within a cross functional matrix environment and global organization.
  • Strong analytical skills and software proficiency in ERP/MRP, MS Excel/Word/Access.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time, including globally.


Applicants can expect a base compensation range of $112,000 - 170,000 annually, plus benefits and additional incentives based on the level of the role. This is the reasonable estimate that Belden believes it might pay for this job based on applicable circumstances at the time of posting. Belden may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law, and commensurate with the applicant's experience, qualifications, and geographical location.
