Job Summary:

The Sr. Manager, Demand Planning and Logistics will be a key stakeholder in helping to achieve Mercury's focus areas of predictable performance, a thriving growth engine, margin expansion, and cash release through delivery performance and inventory management. You will oversee and manage all planning and logistics activities related to materials management and inventory control in the manufacturing environment for the Phoenix, AZ facility. This includes tactical day-to-day operational commitments covering materials management, inventory control and materials functions such as purchasing and shipping/receiving activities. Translates customer delivery requirements into material strategies and processes, resulting in cost-effective processing and profitable manufacturing of company products. Defines goals, improves technologies, and resolves problems in conjunction with manufacturing, quality assurance, engineering, and sales. Develops operations-related plans, budgets, and policies and procedures, while ensuring efficient delivery of the operating plan for the business.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:



  • Maintain accuracy of Work-in-Process inventory
  • Manages the activities of the material planning function to ensure that the required material, as identified and authorized in the program material plan and Bill of Material, is effectively managed to meet the programs production and engineering requirements
  • Sustain and deliver commitments and inventory targets
  • As required by current schedules, develops, and maintains forecasts and factory schedule loading.
  • Directs and controls the activities of the planning and logistics functions. Ensures that these activities are coordinated for the purpose of meeting the Company's commitment to the customer
  • Drives Risk mitigation strategies that allow for material flexibility and agility
  • Establishes and maintains an effective working relationship with all functions within Operations and business teams. Ensures that a smooth flow of accurate and detailed information is maintained, problems are resolved, and required changes are implemented in a timely manner
  • Approves and performs analysis required to determine when reallocation of resources is required due to capacity limitations, NPI programs, or reschedules, and directs appropriate responses
  • Resolve problems with inventory levels, production schedules, or materials shortages and provide recommendations to avoid future problems
  • Drive performance improvement based on industry best practices and technological drivers, while delivering our commitment to customer service
  • Leverage Lean concepts to improve performance relative to run strategies and other key performance improvement opportunities
  • Drive standard operational KPI's to ensure efficiency and effectiveness
  • Create and execute contingency planning
  • Support product lifecycle management including new product introduction
  • Play key role in driving process improvement and participate in cross-functional projects with the greater manufacturing and operations organizations
  • Ensure the shipment of all company products as scheduled
  • Monitor the flow of materials from order through receipt, production, and shipping
  • Influence/coordinate information flow and work cross functionally with production, product development, inventory, purchasing, sales, and contracts departments to plan, schedule and implement detailed functional plans
  • Analyze the process and recommend solutions for more efficient flow of materials through production
  • Analyze the data integrity of ERP data (item attribute, BOM's and routings) to ensure proper MPS/MRP planning
  • Supervise the activities of production planners and other supply chain associates by delegating and assigning tasks


Required Qualifications:



  • 8+ years of experience in manufacturing and/or planning operations including at least 5 years of demonstrated leadership
  • BS/BA in Business Administration, Engineering or related major, or 10 years in lieu of a degree
  • Experience in ERP systems with Oracle/SAP experience a plus
  • Experience in electronic manufacturing or similar industry experience with Low volume, High mix, high complexity products


Preferred Qualifications:



  • APICS CPIM Certification preferred
  • Strong collaboration with key stakeholders, gains commitment to meet timelines and influences others without direct authority
  • Driver and Goal Oriented: With limited guidance, identifies tasks needed to support desired outcomes, and challenges potential delays to drive necessary actions for results.
  • Demonstrated ability to stay organized with multiple responsibilities and deadlines. Good decision making and problem-solving skills. Detail-oriented. Time management and workload prioritization capabilities are key.
  • Flexibility and comfortable working in an adaptive environment with limited guidance from manager.
  • Possesses a positive questioning attitude who is able and willing to dive into the why.
