Position Summary

The role of the Steward Supervisor is to oversee and supervise the Stewarding team to maintain the cleanliness and sanitization of all food and beverage outlets, kitchen, dinnerware, and food and beverage equipment. Manages setup and takedown of select kitchen and outlet areas.

Key Responsibilities

Implementing business strategies for the hotel which are aligned with the Choice Hotels overall mission, vision, values, and strategies

  • Ensuring the execution of a rotating cleaning calendar for special cleaning projects and managing staff to clean accordingly

  • Maintaining controls to guard against theft and waste

Ensuring a smooth operation of the Kitchen department

  • Directing and assisting in the cleaning of floors and work surfaces daily

  • Training the staff on proper use of dishwashing and other cleaning equipment

  • Ensuring trash is removed promptly

Maintaining supplies and equipment for the cafeteria and Food and Beverage Department

  • Maintaining levels of Stewarding stock, assisting in making requisitions and obtaining approval as needed

  • Assuring proper distribution and storage of supplies

  • Monitoring the supply of clean dishware, glassware, pots and pans

  • Taking steps to ensure the kitchen and restaurant have needed supplies

  • Checking the cleaning equipment daily and reporting any problems to the Maintenance department for repair

  • Maintaining the cleanliness of prone areas and taking steps to correct when necessary

Develops and implements strategies and practices which support employee engagement

  • Communicates performance expectations and provides employees with on-going feedback

  • Provides employees with coaching and counseling as needed to achieve performance objectives and reach their fullest potential

Creates 100% guest satisfaction by providing the Radisson Blu experience through performance that demonstrates the standards of, genuine hospitality and exceeding guest expectations:

  • Gives personal attention, takes personal responsibility and uses teamwork when providing guest service.

  • Listens, apologizes with empathy, finds a solution and follows through when resolving guest problems.

  • Provides Yes I Can! genuine hospitality and teamwork on an ongoing basis.

  • Assumes the responsibility to notice when the guest is not satisfied and uses their best judgment as to when it is appropriate to use the 100% Guest Satisfaction.

  • Performs other duties as required by management to provide 100% Guest Satisfaction and genuine hospitality to our Guests.

Requirements/Skills

  • Minimum one year management experience in full service stewarding operations

  • 3 years experience in hotel food and beverage

  • High school diploma required, bachelor's degree in hospitality preferred

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Collaborate effectively with other hotel employees and managers to ensure teamwork

  • Able to resolve conflicts guests, supervisor and employee

  • Ability to multitask and work well under pressure

  • Basic computer skills in MS Office, reservation systems, and point of sales systems

Physical Demands

  • Long hours are sometimes required, ability to work flexible schedule
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time, frequent bending, occasionally stoop or crawl
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis and push or pull up to 150 pounds
  • Good manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment

Other Information

The hotel business functions seven days a week, 24 hours a day. All associates must realize this fact and be aware that at all times it may be necessary to move associates from their accustomed shift and alter assigned duties as business dictates. In addition, this is a hospitality business, and a hospitable service atmosphere must be maintained at all times.
