Overview
As a Litigation Paralegal, you will play a critical role within the bank's Legal Department, a high-energy group of legal professionals dedicated to exceptional client service, value, and trustworthy advice to enable the bank's business. This position provides administrative, legal, and eDiscovery support for the bank's in-house legal counsel on litigation, investigations, and related matters.
Responsibilities
- Legal Support - Assists in-house legal counsel with management of legal notices served on the Bank, the bank's litigation portfolio and related matters, including: (1) reviewing and routing legal notices; (2) researching, investigating, analyzing, and ensuring timely responses to claims, complaints, subpoenas, and other legal process served on the bank; (3) processing new complaints and opening new matters in the matter management/e-billing system for adequate tracking, updating, and reporting; (4) assisting with discovery productions; (5) drafting, reviewing, and processing settlement documents and disposition reports; (6) coordinating with other business units within the Bank on document productions, legal holds, subpoena responses and other court filings, coordinating court appearances/testimony, bankruptcy matters, collections, and asset recovery; (7) performing legal research; and (8) interfacing with outside counsel, internal clients, and customers where appropriate.
- eDiscovery Support - Responsible for collecting, reviewing, and managing eDiscovery documents and data relevant to litigation, which may involve using software platforms to ingest, organize, and search for documents.
- Administrative Support - Provides administrative support to bank's in-house legal counsel. Assists with legal notices, preparation, revision, and review of letters, presentations, reports, and other legal and departmental tasks. Supports implementation and maintenance of document management system, matter management, e-billing, templates, and legal forms. Reviews litigation processes and procedures, identifying areas of improvement and obstacles to change.
- Documentation - Drafts, revises, and maintains letters, presentations, checklists, reports, legal forms, templates, and other legal documents.
- Communication - Communicates directly in-person, by telephone, by videoconference, and by email with directors, officers, and other business leaders and associates. Must communicate clearly, effectively, and politely.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of experience in Paralegal, Legal Assistant, or Banking with specific emphasis on Litigation OR Associates and 4 years of experience in Paralegal, Legal Assistant, or Banking with specific emphasis on Litigation OR High School Diploma or GED and 6 years of experience in Paralegal, Legal Assistant, or Banking with specific emphasis on Litigation Preference for candidates with a bachelor's degree and a minimum of 4 years of experience as a paralegal or legal assistant within Litigation. Additional Requirements:
- Knowledge of civil litigation and legal processes required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication skills - interpersonal (oral and written).
- Advanced organizational and multitasking skills.

- Ability to work independently but take direction as required.
- Problem-solving skills.
- Experience with e-discovery.
- Paralegal Certification preferred.
