This is a hands-on position. As a Senior Chemical Processing Technician, you will perform chemical processing operations for corrosion control, including acid etching and chromate conversion, ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards. You will be responsible for processing aerospace components through inspection, cleaning, masking, chemical treatment, and verification. Additionally, you will apply your expertise to troubleshoot complex technical issues and act as the primary point of contact for process improvements. Your work is a vital part of the Chemical Processing Facility and Integrated Supply Chain, ensuring precision, quality, and safety in the preparation of parts for space missions.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leadership & Oversight: Lead the daily operations of the Chemical Processing team, providing guidance, mentorship, and training to junior technicians.

  • Chemical Processing: Perform and oversee corrosion control operations on aerospace components using processes such as acid etching and chromate conversion.

  • EHS Coordination: Work closely with EHS to manage proper chemical storage, waste handling, and disposal to meet all regulatory and safety standards.

  • Equipment Operation: Safely operate and ensure the proper use of tanklines, forklifts, cranes, hoists, and other lifting equipment for handling aerospace hardware.

  • Process Optimization: Monitor and analyze workflows to identify opportunities for process improvements, ensuring efficiency, quality, and minimal downtime in chemical processing operations.

  • Quality Control: Conduct and oversee visual inspections to verify that parts meet strict quality standards before and after processing.

  • Advanced Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Lead the maintenance and troubleshooting of pumps, tanks, and other equipment. Develop preventive maintenance schedules and respond to technical issues that arise.

  • Process Monitoring: Perform and oversee chemical titration and other methods to ensure proper chemical levels in tanks, adjusting processes as needed.

  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all environmental, health, and safety regulations, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) with at least 6 years of experience in manufacturing or a related environment, including 4 years in chemical processing.

  • Previous experience with corrosion control in aerospace, medical, or other precision industries.

  • Demonstrated experience in technical guidance and mentorship.

  • Proficiency in operating forklifts, cranes, and other heavy equipment for material handling.

  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to safety and quality standards.

  • Experience in performing chemical analysis, process adjustments, and technical troubleshooting.

  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and manage heavier hardware with lifting machinery.

  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Formal certifications or advanced education in chemistry, industrial processes, or a related field.

  • Strong familiarity with industrial fluid systems and applied chemistry principles.

  • Certifications in hazardous materials handling, forklift/crane operations, or other relevant technical areas.

  • Proven track record of optimizing chemical processes to improve efficiency and reduce operational downtime.

Paid Time Off: Up to four (4) weeks per year based on weekly scheduled hours, and up to 14 company-paid holidays.
