HOSPITAL SALARY: Commensurate with Experience Union: SEIU LOCAL 73 Job Title Department Ultrasound Technician Radiology Job Summary Performs services related to patients undergoing general and arterial ultrasound examination. Duties include operating Ultrasound equipment as well as performing all types of Ultrasound examinations on patients. Typical Duties

Working Conditions A. Physical activities: 1. Amount of activity per day: Sitting 60%, Standing 10%, Walking 30% 2. The employee will frequently: a. Assist patients with ambulation b. Work with body bent over at waist c. Reach above shoulder level d. Work with arms above shoulder height e. Work with arms extended at shoulder height f. Work with hands at waist level g. Reach or stretch from the waist 3. The employee with continually: a. Transfer patients into or out of a chair b. Transfer patients from bed to cart or table to cart c. Push/pull objects greater than 30lbs 4. Lifting: a. The employee will continually lift objects (such as cassettes) weighing up to 15 lbs. b. The employee will frequently lift objects (such as patients) weighing greater than 30 lbs. 5. Pushing/Pulling: a. Patients on carts and wheelchairs weighing up to 300 lbs. are moved approximately 200 feet. Carts are equipped with wheels. b. No equipment is available to assist with pushing/pulling. Co-workers are frequently available to assist. B. Hand Coordination Activities: Gross manipulation, fine manipulation, simple grasping, and hand twisting of both hands are needed to operate the ultrasound machines. Power group of both hands is need for patient transfers. C. Working Conditions: The patient will have limited exposure to radiation hazards. Physical and Environmental Demands This position is functioning within a healthcare environment. The incumbent is responsible for adherence to all hospital and department specific safety requirements. This includes but is not limited to the following policies and procedures: complying with Personal Protective Equipment requirements, hand washing and sanitizing practices, complying with department specific engineering and work practice controls and any other work area safety precautions as specified by hospital wide policy and departmental procedures.
