The purpose of this position is to plan, coordinate, assist and implement a full life enrichment program and volunteer program, as well as maintaining and updating on-campus communication.
Hiring Bonus: A one-time bonus of $1,000 will be awarded after successful completion of 90-day probationary period. The Life Enrichment Assistant plays a key role in enhancing the quality of life for residents within our healthcare facility by supporting the planning, implementation, and facilitation of social and recreational activities. This role provides opportunities for residents to engage in meaningful experiences that promote well-being, social interaction, and personal enrichment. The Life Enrichment Assistant will work closely with the Activities Director, Resident Life Director, and other departments to ensure a vibrant, inclusive, and person-centered environment. Key Responsibilities:
- Activity Planning & Coordination: Assist the Activities Director in planning, implementing, and facilitating social, recreational, and therapeutic programs that meet the diverse needs and interests of residents.
- Program Participation & Leadership: Actively lead, assist, and participate in a variety of activities, such as arts and crafts, games, exercise programs, music therapy, and group discussions, ensuring resident engagement and safety.
- Room-Bound Resident Support: Maintain regular contact with residents who are room-bound to ensure they have access to appropriate activities, social interaction, and meet their unique needs.
- Event Planning Support: Work alongside the Activities Director and other departments to plan, execute, and facilitate facility-wide events and celebrations, ensuring a positive and engaging experience for residents.
- Communication & Outreach: Contribute to facility communication efforts, including creating content for newsletters, bulletin boards, and other printed or digital media, ensuring that important updates are shared with residents and staff.
- Resident Orientation & Welcome: Provide a warm welcome and orientation to new residents, helping them adjust to their new environment and participate in available activities.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain daily records of resident participation in activities, ensuring accurate and timely documentation for care planning and reporting.
- Supply Management: Organize, clean, and maintain activity supplies and storage areas to ensure that materials are available and in good condition for programming.
Qualifications:
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience: Previous experience in recreational activities, crafts, or a related field preferred. Experience working with older adults, particularly in a healthcare or retirement community setting, is a plus.
- Skills:
- Strong organizational, planning, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, with residents, families, and staff.
- Ability to adapt programming to meet the physical, emotional, and cognitive needs of aging adults.
- Initiative, reliability, and a positive, energetic attitude.
- Customer Service: Demonstrated ability to understand and meet the needs of older adults, with a strong focus on customer service and enhancing resident satisfaction.
- Other: Must be able to engage residents in a variety of activities, show empathy and patience, and contribute to a team-based environment.
