Apply for this Job Posting DetailsJob ID: 141223 Rank: Instructor/Professional LecturerCollege/School: Chicago, IL - School of Music Responsibilities:Located in the vibrant cultural capital of Chicago, the DePaul University School of Music seeks an experienced soprano, mezzo, or contralto to join our faculty in applied classical voice at an exciting period of strategic expansion. This is a full-time term faculty (i.e., benefitted, non-tenure-eligible) position with a focus on teaching. Initial contracts are for one year; multi-year contracts are possible thereafter. As the School is reinvesting in the voice program as part of our Strategic Plan beginning in 2025, we seek a compelling performer with a fluid and healthy technique, expertise in opera and art song, demonstrated breadth of repertoire and, at a minimum, national recognition as a vocalist. Job duties include teaching applied voice primarily to graduate and undergraduate students in performance, as well as to undergraduate majors in Music Education, Performing Arts Management, Sound Recording Technology, and Bachelor of Arts in Music programs. Teaching may include courses in the candidate's area of expertise depending on faculty interest and departmental needs. Ability to recruit high-quality voice students for our BM, MM, and post-master's Certificate programs is expected. Other duties are generally fewer than those expected of tenure-line faculty but include auditions, juries, and some department service. Recognized in Chicago and nationally, the DePaul School of Music is a forward-thinking institution that particularly values colleagues who demonstrate strategic mindset, high collaborative capacity, and dedication to the development of agile professionals. External artistic and industry connections are highly valued, as evidenced by our many faculty in the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Lyric Opera of Chicago. DePaul is an equal-opportunity employer that values diversity and strongly encourages diverse candidates to apply. Candidates should have demonstrated experience working and teaching in a diverse learning environment. Questions about the search should be directed to the chair of the search committee, Dr. Chuck Chandler, Voice Area Coordinator, at c.chandler@depaul.edu.
