Job Summary

Provides leadership and support for all the prospective and current transfer students in need of course equivalencies to satisfy the University Core Curriculum or appropriate prerequisites. Supports the university's critical mission to increase the retention and graduation rate for transfer students, with a special focus on students that will be part of the transfer metric cohorts.

Supports the Associate and Director of Transfer & Transition Services in meeting strategic goals and initiatives to increase transfer enrollment, retention, and graduation from the university. Responsible for a major institutional support service: Coordinates the department proactive building of equivalency rules. Supervises students as well as professional and/or support staff. Acts as a subject matter expert for special student populations, programs, and initiatives.

  • Manages the transfer equivalency process and strategic planning with a focus on special student populations.
  • Coordinates, develops, and conducts departmental training for new academic advisors, TTS area and other professional staff.
  • Represents the unit on various events, committees, and staff searches, as necessary.
  • Supervises and trains support staff and/or interns as necessary. Establishes their goals, identifies professional development opportunities, and evaluates performance as necessary.
  • Utilizes technology and data to manage and enhance the transfer course equivalency processes for TTS.
  • Addresses any systematic challenges in relation to transfer credit (course or accelerated exam mechanism).
  • Provides academic advising to students intending to transfer to FIU. Provides guidance to prospective transfer students on the process of selecting a major.
  • Assists in developing and formulating operating policies, practices, and guidelines pertaining to transfer credit and course equivalency.
  • Serves as liaison between FIU Admissions and TTS to prioritize the transfer institutions and areas where FIU Admissions is focused on recruiting transfer students during the recruiting cycle in the academic calendar.
  • Develops and maintains effective liaisons with professionals in the transfer credit evaluation course equivalency processes at other colleges.
  • Oversees the creation and implementation on a proactive course articulation process for TTS in partnership with FIU Admissions (domestic and international).
  • Reviews, enhances, and updates all the TTS presentations with the new FIU marketing format
  • Serves as liaison between TTS and the FIU Admissions, ACS and Orientation and Family Programs offices to effectively coordinate events where TTS's participation is requested/needed.
  • Manages and updates confidential files and records, ensuring that ethical and legal guidelines are maintained. Complies with FERPA.
  • Performs other related duties as required or directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of appropriate experience, or Master's degree and two (2) years of experience.

  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Previous project management experience.
