Position Summary
The Department of Housing and Residence Life at Winston-Salem State University is accepting applications for a Temporary - Maintenance Technician.

Brief Summary of Work for this Position
Perform work by applying methods and general procedures of the carpentry and painting trade. Utilizes techniques, tools and materials and equipment appropriate to trade.
This position is responsible for pressure washing, scraping hand rails, painting, light carpentry and any other general maintenance duties assigned by the supervisor.

This position performs general carpentry (alterations, construction, repair, replace and installations), painting and plastering in all residential spaces.

Description of Work Continued:

  • Work Order Control - Accurately maintain work requests submitted. Assure that all maintenance is completed accordingly.
  • Project Management - Receive and complete projects with little to no supervision beyond the basic instruction.
  • Preventive Maintenance - Effectively perform preventive maintenance on all plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.
  • Emergency Management - Employee is classified as essential. Personnel is all weather and mechanical emergencies. Employee is expected to respond during on and off hour emergencies'
  • Air Conditioning Repair and Troubleshooting - Make repairs, troubleshoot and maintains various air conditioning systems in the residence halls and apartments.
  • Plumbing - Repair, replace, and trouble shoot various plumbing systems.
  • Electrical - Repair, replace, and trouble shoot various electrical systems.
