Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking an experienced Lead Database Administrator ("Lead DBA") to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals. The Lead DBA will be a member of the Department of State (DOS) Consular Affairs Enterprise Infrastructure Operations (CAEIO) Program. CAEIO supports the DOS Bureau of Consular Affairs (CA), providing IT Operations and Maintenance to modernize the legacy networks, applications, and databases supporting CA services globally.

The Lead DBA will manage the DB Ops Tier II team, consisting of 16 Oracle DBAs. This team provides support for Consular Consolidated Database (CCD), overseas posts, DMZ, Passport, and Consular One systems. Support functions include operational management of SQL database systems and Database Infrastructure, as well as Tier 2 support for Oracle Databases in administrative activities such as backups, recovery, monitoring, patching, performance tuning, replication, upgrades, and deployments. The team also provides operational support for Oracle, SQL Server, Datashare partners, and other relational and non-relational database systems.

Responsibilities

    Support Tier II Operations by leading the creation of standards and procedures related to database operational support.
  • Apply solid DBA skills on Oracle RAC and Data Guard installation, configuration, and troubleshooting production issues.
  • Apply advanced methods, theories, and research techniques to investigate and resolve complex system requirements and problems in support of ticket resolutions.
  • Provide guidance to the Tier II DBAs in all areas, including database issues and ticket management (i.e., determining to which team a ticket needs to be routed).
  • Prepare and maintain SOPs, ensuring the information is accurate and current.
  • Coordinate team members' tasking, including on-call and project schedules; monitor team members' performance and mentor team members to help them achieve professional goals and team and program objectives; ensure team members comply with State Department and Peraton training and timekeeping requirements.

Core Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM ET - 3:30 PM ET

Location: This position is hybrid with remote work and one day per week in the office in Sterling, VA. The number of days the Lead DBA works in the office is subject to change based on government/program requirements (for example, surge support might require the individual to be in the office more than two days per week).

This position is hybrid after the individual completes a 1-week New Hire Training Program, during which the Lead DBA will work Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM in Sterling, VA. After completing the training program, the Lead DBA will work their assigned schedule.



Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • U.S. citizenship and an active SECRET government security clearance with the ability to obtain Top Secret government security clearance.
  • Experience with Apache, Weblogic, and PHP administration skills for managing the Database Driven Application Web Portal in production.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills to prioritize work, balance, and lead complex projects.
  • Good leadership skills to guide and mentor the work of less experienced personnel.
  • Minimum 5 years of strong Oracle 11g or 12c DBA experience with specific knowledge of RAC, ASM, GoldenGate, Data Guard, RMAN, Patching, and/or Security.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working with Oracle Cloud Computing (private or public).
  • Experience with Oracle RDBMS upgrade from 11g/12c to 19c and Containerization.
  • Previous experience on Oracle Engineered Systems like Exadata and Sun Super Cluster.

Education and Experience Requirements: 6 years of experience, may have lead experience.

Target Salary Range

$104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
