V2X is actively seeking an experienced and skilled Aircraft Mechanic II (A&P) to join our team at NAS Whiting Field as part of the Advanced Helicopter Training System (AHTS). This role is essential to maintaining the operational readiness of our helicopter training fleet, supporting Navy and Marine Corps aviation training. The aircraft Mechanic II (A&P) is responsible for performing complex maintenance, repair, and inspections on rotary-wing aircraft, ensuring they meet strict safety and performance standards. BASIC FUNCTION SUMMARY:
- Performs installation, cleaning, inspection, repair and replacement of Airframe and Powerplant systems components and accessories.
- All work is performed in accordance with applicable government, manufacturers' maintenance manuals, company directives and other approved data.
- Perform corrosion removal, cleaning and treatment of aircraft structures, engines and installed equipment.
- May be required to use hazardous materials in performance of assigned duties.
- Must have experience in corrosion detection, treatment and prevention.
- A good working knowledge of assigned aircraft maintenance and parts manual.
- Familiarization with COMNAVAIRFORINSTOPNAV 4790.2 Series where applicable and other applicable Navy Instructions, Manufacturer Manuals, and Company Instructions.
- Knowledge of aircraft materials used and safety precautions as applicable to usage.
- Must be able to read, speak, write legibly and understand the English language
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Provide guidance to Mechanic I within the work center or special work group by sharing technical knowledge to enhance accomplishment of assigned tasks.
- Monitor progress of work being performed on assigned aircraft.
- Evaluate condition of engine and dynamic components requiring inspections as a result of operation outside of established parameters.
- Coordinate with supervision and Quality Assurance to resolve questions concerning serviceability and/or repair procedures.
- Use provided test equipment and Ground Support Equipment to perform assigned tasks.
- Read, interpret, and apply instructions from blueprints, schematics, and other approved data.
- Assist with ordering parts, tools, materials and equipment as required.
- Perform aircraft maintenance and recoveries away from home field when authorized.
- Maintain cleanliness of the work center and your assigned work area.
- Responsible for adhering to all applicable Foreign Object Damage (FOO) prevention rules and regulations.
- Responsible for adhering to Tool Control Program.
- Must comply with established General and Industrial Safety Rules and Regulations as applicable to the contract, facilities and job assignment.
- Ensure Quality Assurance inspections are complied with.
- Required to perform Collateral Duty Inspection functions.
- May be required to remove and reinstall cowlings, doors, and panels to perform the duties of the job classification.
- Document work accomplished on government and company electronic and/or manual Information Systems.
- Perform corrosion control cleaning and removal as required utilizing precautions in the SDS for materials utilized to complete these tasks.
- Must possess personal tools required to perform the work in the classification
- Pursuant to the specific provisions of the CBA, at the discretion of management, may be requested to perform the duties of Lead.
- Monitor and assist the line move crew when operating inside the hangar.
- Assist in ensuring the safety, security, inventory and preservation of Government owned and Company owned equipment.
- Performs ground turns in accordance with the Engine Rinse Program.
- Performs out of Phase operational checks in accordance with applicable maintenance instructions. (High power ground turns)
- Perform other related duties within the job classification.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
- FAA Airframes or Power Plants License (A or P) preferred or ability to obtain license within two 2 years of employment in this position.
- Must have a minimum of seven (7) years documented experience as a practicing aircraft mechanic (either fixed wing or helicopter), two (2) years of which must have been on TH-57 or Bell 206 aircraft.
- Must meet any other qualification standard imposed by the government contract not covered by this agreement.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
- Climbing, standing, stooping, bending, pushing, kneeling, stretching, extensive walking and working in tiring uncomfortable positions.
- May require lifting of objects whose weight normally will not exceed 50 pounds.
- The diversity of work conditions may range from an environment where there is little or no physical discomfort, to an environment where inclement weather may subject individual to severe changes of temperature, wind, rain, etc.
- May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail.
- May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
- May be exposed to electrical shock hazards.
LICENSING, CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS :
- FAA Airframes or Power Plants License (A or P) preferred or must obtain license within 2 yrs of employment in this position.
- Hazardous Materials Certification
- CDQAR / CDI Certified
- Flight Control Rigging Certification
- Hydraulic Fluid Sampling Certification
- Aircraft Towing Certification
- GSE Licensing
- Aircraft Turnup Certification
- Physical as required by NAVAIR 3710.1Series
- Valid State Driver License
- Airfield Operators License
