Position Summary
The Naomi Berrie Diabetes Center (NBDC) is seeking a Senior Research Coordinator to join our team in a full-time position. The NBDC at Columbia University Medical Center is committed to excellence in teaching, research, and patient care. Our Clinical, Translational and Basic Science research features collaborations across specialties and stretches from the bench to bedside. We also have active clinical trials available to our volunteer participants.
The Research Project Manager will report to the Principal Investigators and serve as a liaison between the volunteer participants, and other collaborators during the POWERS study that involves apparently healthy volunteers without diabetes.
Responsibilities
- Reporting to the Principal Investigators for a national study that is investigating predictors of weight loss maintenance in healthy adults.
- Collaborate with Investigators to provide leadership, counsel and assistance in implementing, managing and sustaining the ongoing POWERS protocol.
- Identify operational and/or protocol issues, discuss with the Investigators and implement and oversee fulfillment of solutions.
- Work with Investigators to ensure compliance with informed consent, identify, report and resolve adverse events and HIPPA compliance;
Study participant responsibilities: Schedule study visits; Register participant for inpatient visits; Marshaling participant inpatient visit processing/trouble shooting.- Manage maintenance of study documents.
- Communicate with Data Coordinating Center to maintain database and conduct routine maintenance as needed to ensure data integrity.
- Present information at weekly meetings to PI and research staff.
- Laise with PIs to coordinate weekly staff schedules.
- Submit orders and invoices for all study and office supplies.
- Attend virtual and in-person Steering committee meetings, and virtual Coordinators meetings, as needed.
- Serve as a back-up interventionist (RD/nutrition) when need arises, specific to nutrition education and behavior modification, for individual and group-based nutrition counseling in POWERS.
- Serve as a backup when Research Assistant is out (along with other POWERS staff).
- Performs related duties & responsibilities as assigned/requested.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience required; plus three years of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience together with a minimum of five (5) years experience as a research worker.
- Bilingual in Spanish.
- Experience as a clinical research coordinator.
- Experience supervising and management of study team.
Other Requirements
- Experience in delivery of lifestyle interventions for weight management, a plus.
- Must be flexible, highly organized, and able to manage a complex study.
- Excellent organization, and communication skills.
- Ability to communicate, interpret, share and present information to management and research investigators and staff.
- Computer proficiency.
- Experience with data collection.
