Position Overview


Primary Purpose of Position
The primary purpose of this position is to ensure the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships is in compliance with federal, state and institutional guidelines. The Director of Strategic Initiatives and Partnerships for Scholarship, is an experienced financial aid professional responsible for identifying, recruiting, and enrolling a highly qualified and diverse student class each year through the administration of North Carolina A&T State University scholarship programs. This role serves as a vital member of the Office Student Financial Aid and Scholarship leadership team.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University is an 1890 land-grant doctoral research university dedicated to learning, discovery, and community engagement. The University provides a wide range of educational opportunities from bachelor's to doctoral degrees in both traditional and online environments. With an emphasis on preeminence in STEM and a commitment to excellence in all its educational, research, and outreach programs, North Carolina A&T fosters a climate of economic competitiveness that prepares students for the global society. The primary purpose of the Office of Student Financial Aid is to administer financial aid in a professional and compassionate manner to students and other customers while assuring the University's compliance with Federal, State and Institutional regulations. The office is also responsible for reconciling programs, conducting workshops, ensuring compliance with athletic aid as well as other responsibilities.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years for experience working within a university Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships. Extensive knowledge of enrollment management and financial aid processes, leveraging, strong verbal, written, public speaking and organizational skills.
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
Master's degree. Demonstrated success in working with a team in selecting highly qualified students the meet or exceed the academic criteria Experience developing as strong teams fostered by a collaborative culture. Experience with the implementation of scholarship platforms like Award Spring, Academic Works or Campus Logic. Familiarity with SLATE (Technolutions), advancement work and the UNC System is a plus.

  • Ability to clearly articulate the mission, vision, and values for the University
  • Ability to establish close cross-campus partnership with the divisions and departments including Alumni Relations, Student Affairs, University Advancement, Athletics, Department Chairs, Study Abroad and Program Directors.
  • Strong public speaking and relationship-building skills. High emotional intelligence.
  • Event coordination and management.
  • A commitment to professional development related to trends, innovative programming, access/success work, marketing, and technologies necessary to elevate the university
  • A strong working knowledge of the University, its academic and extracurricular offerings, advancement, and future strategic direction.
