Summary:

Our vision for this position is to improve the quality of products by working with Manufacturing to reduce process issues, improve production efficiency and improve bottom line results.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.



  • Work closely with Manufacturing, Engineering and the customer to assure products meet customer needs.


  • Work directly with the Engineering Team to approve / revised tools and processes.


  • Up front review of tooling, processes, and controls to ensure quality objectives are achieved.


  • Considers design from manufacturing, process controls, and cost in decision making process.


  • Ensure shop floor has capability and resources to produce product to specifications.


  • Visibly supports formal efforts aimed at continuous improvement of all factory operations.


  • Work as a member of the Project Management Team providing support and direction on, but not limited to:





  • Control Plan




  • Run at Rate




  • FEMA




  • Gage Design and Fabrication




  • Process Flow




  • Customer Liaison




  • Packaging




  • PPAP





  • Implementation of formal Quality Assurance System designed to guarantee customer satisfaction and create a skilled work force. Training and education of floor personnel play a key role.


  • Work with Engineering Team to establish effective Tool Try Out and Variability Study procedures.


  • Coordinates try out needs with CMM availability, technicians, and shop schedules.


  • Builds part specific data to support process controls and customer needs.


  • Establishes testing measures and histories to avoid repeat problems in manufacturing.


  • Develops formal tracking and response system to follow up on internal and external quality issues. Places priority on customer service and response.


  • Provides visible support for daily floor operations and SOS. Plays leadership role in promoting an atmosphere of continuous improvement with both quality technicians and production technicians.


  • Work closely with customers on customer part issues.


  • Travel to customers, if necessary, to handle any customer concerns.



Supervisory Responsibilities

None.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university; and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills and Abilities

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations

Certified Quality Engineer desirable
