Pay is depending on experience. Minimum is $25.78/hour

Position Summary

The Commercial Banker Trainee works through a training rotational program through various functions of the bank over a period of up to 56 weeks. The Commercial Banker Trainee receives exposure, education, and practical hands-on experience in all elements of the commercial lending process.

Upon successful completion of the program, the Bank Trainee may be considered for a Commercial Loan Officer or Credit Analyst position.

Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional duties.

  • Treasury Management
  • Electronic Banking/Call Center Operations
  • Audit, Accounting, Compliance, Human Resources, Residential Mortgage, Investment Services
  • Loan Servicing
  • Loan Documentation
  • Commercial Lending/Credit Analysis
  • Credit Administration/Collections

The position may be required to relocate to rural market.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Create value in each job function by completing assigned learning objectives.
  2. Collaborate and engage in team learning, projects, and other assigned team-based tasks.
  3. Prepare thorough and concise memos, spread sheets, reports, summaries and opinions as assigned within established timelines.
  4. Contribute to bank-wide projects while following specific and detailed instructions.
  5. Participate in Loan Committee meetings as requested.
  6. Complete online, written and in-person compliance training within established timeframes.
  7. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or other related field.
  • High School Diploma and 2-4 years of relevant work experience in a professional, service focused and fast-pace environment may be considered.

Experience

  • Two years of banking or relevant business experience.
  • Financial accounting/analysis experience preferred.
  • Related military education/experience may be used as a substitute for education or work experience.

Knowledge & Communication Skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Able to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, ability to analyze business and guarantor financial statements, tax returns, and collateral.
  • High level of regard for trust and confidentiality.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment with thorough communication and support of group decisions.
  • Must understand and have the ability to implement applicable compliance requirements.

Analytical & Decision Making Skills

  • Analytical and problem solving skills required. Use logic and reasoning to analyze financial and credit information.
  • Ability to work under general direction from manager and complete work independently with minimal supervision or guidance.
  • Ability to set priorities and meet established deadlines.
  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment that requires attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Must be a critical thinker, detail oriented, and have the ability to develop and implement plans.

Computer/Software/Other Equipment Skills

  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Ability to operate standard office equipment such as PC, printer, fax/copier, and telephone.

Working Conditions

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Work is performed in a professional office environment.
