The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for Program/Project Coordinator (Code Enforcement) to support the Building Code Division.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in business, public administration or closely related field.
(One year of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of required education.)

Requires two (2) years in code and zoning enforcement, or closely related experience based on area of assignment.

Special Certifications and Licenses Required
Must be certified in Fundamentals of Code Enforcement Certification by the Florida Association of Code Enforcement (FACE).

Must have a VALID Florida Driver's License.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.

Broward County Building Code Division (BCD) is seeking a Program/Project Coordinator (Code Enforcement) , to join the Broward County Municipal Services District, Code Compliance Section. *This position may require night and weekend hours.

This is technical work in the enforcement of Chapter 39 Zoning of the Broward County Code of Ordinances. This is technical lead work in the enforcement of zoning and other land use codes. The incumbent will be responsible for conducting field inspections of new and existing sites for conformance to various zoning and land use codes. Work involves coordinating, reviewing and participating in the investigation of complaints and violations of various zoning and land use codes. Supervision may be exercised over a staff of code enforcement officers by assignment and review of completed inspections and by providing assistance in unusual or difficult areas of code interpretation.

Under the general supervision of the Code Enforcement Supervisor, the incumbent will be responsible for conducting investigations of complaints and violations involving zoning, land usage and various related public complaints. Coordinates and reviews the results of buildings, signage, land use and fence permit inspections. Coordinates and participates in field investigations to determine compliance with zoning regulations and other land use codes. Inspects new and existing sites for conformance to County ordinances. Reviews construction and inspection plans for compliance with ordinances and regulations specific to area of assignment. Performs related work as required.

Some other tasks of the Program/Project Coordinator's (Code Enforcement) tasks include rental property inspections, researching and reviewing legal descriptions, plat restrictions and property ownership information, conducting field investigations to determine compliance of properties, testifying at hearings regarding notices of violation or citations issued to code violators, and answering inquiries from architects, attorneys, real estate personnel, building contractors and the general public regarding land usage, zoning codes and related ordinances.

Assists the Code Compliance Section Supervisor with planning, organizing and directing inspections, code compliance and enforcement work.

Develops educational programs for the regulated community (Public Outreach).

Performs other related work. Work is performed with considerable independence within established codes, regulations, and technical guidelines.

Performs related work as assigned.
