The Role:

Cognizant is looking for an experienced and innovative Senior Python Developer to serve our diverse base of global clients. As a member of our team, you will build cutting edge, cloud-based software that powers modern business. An ideal candidate is someone who enjoys working in a diverse, collaborative, geographically distributed team. Similarly, the ideal candidate is an expert engineer who values the "team", drives continuous improvement and is unafraid to challenge the legacy status quo with creative cloud-based solutions.

Location: Richmond, VA (Hybrid)

You must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Responsibilities:
  • Senior Python Developers should be comfortable in writing production software in Python. Superficial scripting knowledge is not sufficient.
  • Proficiency in AWS is a must. AWS knowledge of Lambdas & Step functions is a huge plus.
  • RESTful APIs and microservices architecture: Experience with RESTful APIs and microservices architecture, and an understanding of how to design and implement them effectively
  • The position is focused on python development of components for a software application platform.
  • The candidate will develop and support the middle layer of the application to build, test, and deploy RESTful micro services, create shared services components.
  • Engineer capable of designing solutions, writing code, testing code, automating test and deployment.
  • Automation Testing: Pytest, Unitest, Monkey patch, pytest-mockito etc
  • Collaborate with teams to ensure comprehensive test coverage and identify potential issues early in the development cycle.
  • Engage with stakeholders to understand their needs and provide technical solutions that align with business objectives.
Required Skills:
  • 6+ years of experience working as a Python developer
  • 3+ years of experience in AWS.
  • Experience with Python PyTest, unit test modules are all mandatory
  • Strong Proficiency in Python programming language, including experience with frameworks such as Fast API
  • Experience with AWS Lambdas & AWS Step functions is a huge plus.
  • Good written, verbal communication and documentation skills.
  • Familiar with Agile delivery process
  • Must be analytical and self-motivated.
  • Work Effectively within a global team environment.
