Our client, a top-tier manufacturer of windows and doors, is looking for a skilled Operations/Plant Manager to drive operational excellence in their manufacturing and distribution processes. Job Summary:

As the Operations/Plant Manager, you will oversee all daily activities within the plant, including warehouse, distribution, and manufacturing operations. You will ensure that the plant runs efficiently by maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and productivity. This position is key to implementing continuous improvements across plant operations while ensuring compliance with industry regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Distribution & Production Management: Lead all aspects of plant operations, from manufacturing to warehouse and distribution processes. Develop production and distribution schedules to meet customer orders efficiently.
  • Oversee the entire product lifecycle, ensuring timely delivery from manufacturing through distribution.
  • Optimize distribution strategies to meet the needs of woodworking construction clients while maintaining quality standards.
  • Quality Control: Ensure all products meet the highest quality standards within the woodworking and construction industries. Implement quality assurance systems that align with industry regulations.
  • Address any quality issues swiftly and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Safety & Compliance: Maintain a safe working environment by enforcing safety protocols and compliance with OSHA standards. Regularly review safety policies, conduct audits, and ensure compliance with industry safety regulations.
  • Ensure that warehouse and distribution practices align with environmental safety standards.
  • Team Leadership: Manage a diverse team of supervisors, technicians, and distribution staff. Recruit, train, and develop employees to ensure top performance across the team.
  • Foster a collaborative work environment that promotes teamwork and innovation.
  • Process & Efficiency Improvements: Identify opportunities for process improvements, particularly within manufacturing and distribution workflows. Implement lean manufacturing and distribution techniques to optimize resource use and reduce waste.
  • Analyze KPIs related to distribution and production efficiency, making adjustments to improve overall plant performance.
  • Resource & Inventory Management: Manage the plant's budget, ensuring effective use of resources including labor, materials, and overhead. Oversee inventory management and ensure proper use of warehouse space and assets.
  • Minimize downtime through effective maintenance planning and resource allocation.
  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with senior leadership to align plant operations with the company's strategic goals. Contribute to the development of long-term plans that support growth in the distribution and woodworking construction markets.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to keep the plant ahead of industry trends.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in manufacturing, with a strong background in the distribution and woodworking construction industries a plus
  • 7-10 years of plant management experience, ideally in window, door, or woodworking production.
  • Expertise in manufacturing and distribution processes, quality control, and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with a track record of driving operational improvements.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams and departments.
  • Proficiency with manufacturing and distribution software, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and industry compliance standards.
