Who we are looking for:

We are currently looking for a Maintenance Manager to be based out of Pendleton, OR. Reporting to the Plant Manager, this person will be responsible for planning and overseeing the work of the maintenance staff to ensure safe and efficient operations for the entire facility, as well as being responsible for the entire upkeep and maintenance of the facility including proper working of all electrical and mechanical systems.

The ideal candidate will have a technical degree and 10 years of maintenance related experience and/or training in the field preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience; Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred. Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a plus.

What you'll do:



  • Provide supervision and leadership to plant maintenance department.
  • Monitor the use and inventories of spare parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment and coordinate or initiate reordering when necessary.
  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing activities and promote the plant Lean culture.
  • Coordinate and/or perform inspection of building and equipment as required by regulatory agencies.
  • Oversee maintenance functions with a drive to eliminate repetitive issues by developing personnel and using metrics to help make decisions.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure proper functioning of equipment, and safety and environmental compliance.
  • Be a leader in safety. Drive and enforce company policy regarding EH&S and Lean Initiatives
  • Create and adhere to departmental budgets.


What you'll bring:



  • Technical degree and 10 years of maintenance related experience and/or training in the field preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience; Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred.
  • Ability to read and create electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Experience with installation of machinery and equipment as well as dis-assembly.
  • Effective leadership skills and problem-solving techniques. Great interpersonal skills with a strong ability to communicate both positive and negative messages.
  • Must be adaptable to changes in the work environment, comfortable with multiple competing demands and able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events in a calm and logical manner.

Within 3 months, you'll:



  • Complete any required training.
  • Have developed relationships with the key stakeholders for this role.
  • Be well-versed in Atkore's Business System and the importance of your role to daily operations.


Within 6 months, you'll:



  • Update training materials and procedures.
  • Partner with Safety and HR to investigate and provide corrective measures for on-the-job accidents, injuries, production issues, and HR issues.
  • Identify ways to strengthen the team's commitment to Atkore's core values of Accountability, Teamwork, Integrity, Respect and Excellence.


Within 12 months, you'll:



  • Be managing an efficient team that delivers Atkore's strategy.
  • Create and update reports, training materials and documentation.
  • Have meaningful performance conversations with your direct reports.
  • Be able to resolve any issues quickly and safely.
