Job Overview & Essential Functions

Murphy-Hoffman Company, LLC is North America's largest Kenworth truck Dealership and Leasing group. As MHC continues to grow, we have an opening for a General Manager - Dealerships. The role of the General Manager - Dealerships is responsible for the day-to-day operation of assigned branches in compliance with established policies and procedures. Plans, directs, and controls the activities of the assigned profit centers through the operational managers who are responsible for daily administration of the sales, parts, and service activities of the branch. Evaluates operating results against pre-determined objectives on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. Ensures that operational areas are adequately staffed to meet customer service needs and to achieve overall profit and growth objectives.

  • Assesses present and future needs, trends, problems, and profit opportunities for assigned branches.
  • Establishes short and long-term operating and financial objectives for assigned branches, within the company's overall plans and policies.
  • Ensures that approved policies and objectives are clearly understood and effectively applied throughout the branch.
  • Formulates annual and monthly business plan, sales/profit objectives, and expense budgets with operational managers, which are in accordance with company's objectives.
  • Evaluates performance of assigned branches against established goals and objectives. Makes adjustments and changes as necessary to achieve desired results.
  • Develops and trains operational managers and reviews and appraises their performance. Recommends compensation changes in accordance with company policy. Ensures the organizational structure of assigned branches are efficiently planned and adequately and competently staffed.
  • Maintains appropriate communications within and between various departments and functional areas within assigned branches; holds individual conferences as required.
  • Promotes safe work habits and ensures safety rules are followed. Takes an active role working with the Safety Committees of assigned branches.
  • Ensures branch complies with local, state, and federal governmental regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications
  • Requires three years of previous management experience in a dealership environment.
  • Requires thorough knowledge of all phases of branch operations (sales, parts, and service).
  • Must have excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Requires strong leadership skills and decision-making abilities.
  • Must have strong organizational skills.
  • Must have a strong work ethic and commitment to extra hours when needed.
  • Must have a positive, can-do attitude and be Company/Team minded.
