Center for Family and Policy Research

The University of Missouri Center for Family and Policy Research is located within the Department of Human Development and Family Science. The Center was established in 1997 to serve as a resource for the development of effective public policies relating to children, youth, and families, with a focus on integration of research, policy, and practice. This position is part of a $3.2 million dollar grant that was recently awarded to the University to support childcare providers across the state through the Child Care Collaborative Network. Job Description

The Child Development Coordinator will evaluate the needs of childcare providers in the Northeast region of Missouri, conduct program quality assessments, and coordinate and conduct training to improve their quality of care. The Child Development Coordinator will have a small caseload of childcare providers, with whom they coach, develop individualized goals, and model best practices to improve their quality of care. The Child Development Coordinator will oversee others who are working in the region to improve childcare quality by providing coaching, modeling of best practices, and conducting training. The Northeast region includes the following counties: Harrison, Daviess, Caldwell, Ray, Mercer, Grundy, Livingston, Carroll, Putnam, Sullivan, Linn, Chariton, Schuyler, Adair, Macon, Randolph, Scotland, Knox, Shelby, Monroe, Audrain, Clark, Lewis, Marion, Ralls, Pike, and Lincoln.

For the Northeast region, we will be hiring a Coordinator for each of the following services:

  • Infant Toddler Centers

Responsibilities:

  • Schedule and implement on-site consultation and coaching with childcare providers
  • Oversee individuals who provide on-site coaching and modeling of best practices to improve program quality
  • Coordinate and conduct trainings for childcare providers
  • Establish and maintain certification to administer program quality assessments
  • Coordinate and administer childcare program quality assessments
  • Coordinate purchases and distribute materials

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of computer technology (MS Office, Zoom)
  • Data entry
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Work collaboratively and independently to deliver services

Use of a personal vehicle is required. Applicants must reside in the region of the state where the services will be provided. For this position, a candidate must reside in one of the following counties: Harrison, Daviess, Caldwell, Ray, Mercer, Grundy, Livingston, Carroll, Putnam, Sullivan, Linn, Chariton, Schuyler, Adair, Macon, Randolph, Scotland, Knox, Shelby, Monroe, Audrain, Clark, Lewis, Marion, Ralls, Pike, or Lincoln.

Shift

Approximately 30 hours per week, flexible hours. The worksite for this position will be physically located in Macon, Missouri and employees will be expected to report on site Monday through Friday. Regular regional travel will be required. Occasional evening and weekend work, as well as onsite meetings in Columbia, Missouri may also be required.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's degree in early childhood education, child development or related area or the equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

A four (4) year degree in Early Childhood Education, Family Studies, Child Development, Social Work, or a closely related field

A least three (3) years of supervisory experience in the area of early childhood development

At least five (5) years of professional work experience in the area of early childhood development, including three (3) years working with infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and/or school-aged children

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $29,000 - $30,000 annually. This is a one year grant-funded position, with the possibility of annual renewal. The fiscal year begins in May.
