About the Department of Nutrition

The Department of Nutrition at MSU Denver aims to prepare diverse students for successful careers in food, nutrition, and dietetics by providing quality education that is culturally sensitive and instills a desire for lifelong learning. This department is home to award-winning faculty and staff, who prioritize students and provide opportunities to grow and learn in the field of nutrition and dietetics. The Department of Nutrition houses undergraduate and graduate programs, including a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics and a Master of Science in Nutrition. The Department is also home to accredited programs, including undergraduate and graduate-level Didactic Programs in Dietetics (DPD), a Dietetic Internship Program, and a Pathway Two Lactation Training Program. Position Summary

The Recruitment and Retention Coordinator is a member of the Department of Nutrition's Office of Student Services team. The Recruitment and Retention Coordinator is responsible for marketing the Department of Nutrition's programs and recruiting new students into the programs. This position is also responsible for developing and implementing program activities which enhance student engagement, academic success, retention, and graduation of eligible students.

Responsibilities

Marketing and Recruitment - 50%

  • Establishes and nurtures relationships with colleges and universities, community colleges, high schools, and middle schools
  • Organizes and executes marketing campaigns, adhering to university brand standards and university marketing initiatives
  • Coordinates conference attendance and exhibitor booths
  • Coordinates marketing calendar
  • Creates and maintains departmental flyers and informational sheets that incorporate strategic marketing efforts and align with Departmental mission and goals
  • Develops and maintains an inventory of recruiting and outreach materials and resources
  • Ensures materials are accessible to all individuals engaging in recruiting and outreach activities and coordinates the process for distribution/reservation of recruiting materials
  • Conducts research and compiles data to inform marketing materials, advertising, and content
  • Audits and updates website content, recommending best practice approaches and innovative ways to present website content
  • Coordinates social media efforts
  • Tracks marketing and recruiting expenses and reports to supervisor, Department of Nutrition chair and directors, as appropriate
  • Coordinates and executes orientation and application events and related workshops alongside OSS Staff to ensure incoming students are successful at MSU Denver and aware of University and Departmental opportunities, including scholarships, tutoring services, and assistantships
  • Coordinates Department of Nutrition presence at outreach events both locally and nationwide such as MSU Denver Open House, MSU Denver Days etc. (Some travel and/or evening and weekend events is required)
  • Works with supervisor to ensure proper cross communication and coordination with the University to optimize marketing, recruiting, outreach and communication efforts and to ensure alignment with areas such as Graduate Studies and the University Communication and Marketing team
  • Participates in assessment of marketing, recruiting, outreach and communication practices and engages in data-informed improvements
  • Conducts continuous market analysis of Nutrition related programs, especially the peer programs in Colorado

Retention and Student Engagement - 40%

  • Coordinates Department of Nutrition's Research and Teaching Assistant Program including job posting, matching, onboarding, approving timesheets, providing faculty with TA/RA evaluation forms and requesting TA/RA feedback on program
  • Manges study buddy, mentoring, and tutoring programs
  • Coordinate and execute a variety of student-focused events and workshops to aid in community-building and student success. Includes, but is not limited to orientation, graduation-related events, networking events, and student social events
  • Engages with University student support resources such asCAREreports, Graduate Studies, the Counseling Center, and other areas
  • Provides support in the areas of alumni engagement including managing and updating the alumni database, recruiting alumni for participation at events, etc.
  • Manages alumni communications

Strategic Enrollment Management Data Collection - 5%

  • Compiles student information achieved through the recruitment process into predictive analytic tools to provide enrollment projection reports to supervisor, Department of Nutrition chair and program directors. Data from these reports will inform course scheduling, staffing decisions, classroom needs, and student support and student services programming
  • Collects and compiles data collected from both internal and external systems to inform decision-making and provides summaries and recommendations to supervisor, Department of Nutrition chair and program directors

Other Duties as Assigned - 5%

  • Corporate Card holder, required trainings related to purchasing and travel

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Professional recruitment experience
  • Experience developing marketing materials

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree
  • Experience working in a higher education setting
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Experience with Word Press and/or other website edit/design software
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working with a diverse student population

Schedule Information

  • Full-time, 40 hours per week
  • Exempt
  • Days of the Week:Monday - Friday; 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
  • Evenings and Weekend Work: Some evening work and occasional weekend work dependent upon program needs
  • Schedule: Position is primarily in person, on campus with some remote schedules subject to supervisor approval
  • Travel: Up to 25% of the time, mostly around Denver

Salary for Announcement

Under Colorado law, MSU Denver is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary outside of the range posted in this job announcement. This range takes into account a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.

The full salary range for this position is $41,200 - $61,800. The anticipated hiring range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $51,000 - $60,000.

This position is paid monthly and is eligible for MSU Denver benefits.
