About the Department of Nutrition

The Department of Nutrition at MSU Denver aims to prepare diverse students for successful careers in food, nutrition, and dietetics by providing quality education that is culturally sensitive and instills a desire for lifelong learning. This department is home to award-winning faculty and staff, who prioritize students and provide opportunities to grow and learn in the field of nutrition and dietetics. The Department of Nutrition houses undergraduate and graduate programs, including a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics and a Master of Science in Nutrition. The Department is also home to accredited programs, including undergraduate and graduate-level Didactic Programs in Dietetics (DPD), a Dietetic Internship Program, and a Pathway Two Lactation Training Program. Position Summary

The Department of Nutrition at MSU Denver is seeking applicants for an Admissions Coordinator. The Admissions Coordinator is a member of the Department of Nutrition's Office of Student Services team. The Admissions Coordinator is responsible for admissions support for the Department of Nutrition's programs including the Prerequisites for a Nutrition Graduate (PNUT) Program, Master of Science in Nutrition (MSN), Accelerated BS to MS Concentration, DPD Post-Baccalaureate Certificate, Graduate Certificate in Nutrition Science, Lactation Consultant Training Certificates, and Coordinated Program. This position is also responsible for developing and maintaining admission processes for Department of Nutrition programs.

Responsibilities

Admissions Advising and Coordination - 85%

  • Serves as first point of contact and primary admissions advisor for Department of Nutrition programs, including the Prerequisites for a Nutrition Graduate (PNUT) Program, Master of Science in Nutrition, Accelerated BS to MS Concentration, DPD Post-Baccalaureate Certificate, Graduate Certificate in Nutrition Science, Lactation Consultant Training Certificates, and Dietetic Internship, and provides initial communication, support and guidance to prospective students and program applicants
  • Meets with prospective graduate students by phone, virtually or in-person, and provides proactive advising to these students
  • Provides campus tours as needed
  • Works directly with department leadership in the development, evaluation, and updating of admissions processes for all Department of Nutrition programs
  • Determines applicant eligibility and conducts prerequisite course reviews via transcript audits
  • Ensures admissions applications are adequate, conducts outreach to applicants missing application materials, and tracks post-admissions materials needed for programming purposes
  • Creates and updates admissions materials that reflect annual timelines and initiatives
  • Coordinates and implements a plan for effective communication of admission requirements and timelines
  • Updates and maintains admissions materials in admissions systems (Slate)
  • Develops and implements communication plans to prospective students, which includes students actively working on program prerequisites, that are designed to keep students engaged and on track to apply to MSU Denver
  • Ensures admissions documents and materials are equitable and accessible
  • Tracks and compiles weekly admissions data reports to inform predictive analytic tools
  • Coordinates admissions committee review processes and provides admissions system support to reviewers
  • Coordinates and implements an effective process to release admission decisions to program applicants
  • Participates in the design and implementation of admissions events designed to increase volume and readiness of program applicants (Some travel and/or evening and weekend events is required)
  • Works with supervisor to ensure proper cross communication and coordination with the University to optimize recruiting efforts.
  • Participates in assessment of admissions practices and engages in data-informed improvements
  • Conducts outreach to prospective students at all levels of the admissions funnel
  • Coordinates and executes orientation and application events and related workshops to ensure incoming students are successful at MSU Denver and aware of University and Departmental opportunities, including scholarships, tutoring services, and assistantships

Strategic Enrollment Management Data Collection - 10%

  • Compiles student information achieved through the recruitment and admissions processes into predictive analytic tools to provide enrollment projection reports to supervisor, Department of Nutrition chair and program directors. Data from these reports will inform course scheduling, staffing decisions, classroom needs, and student support and student services programming
  • Collects and compiles data collected from both internal and external systems to inform decision-making and provides summaries and recommendations to supervisor, Department of Nutrition chair and program directors

Other Duties as Assigned - 5%

  • Corporate card holder, required trainings related to purchasing and travel

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience working with Slate and/or admissions experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree
  • Experience working in a higher education setting
  • Professional Advising Experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working with a diverse student population

Schedule Information

  • Full-time, 40 hours per week
  • Exempt
  • Days of the Week:Monday - Friday; 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
  • Evenings and Weekend Work: Some evening work and occasional weekend work dependent upon program needs
  • Schedule:Position is primarily in person, on campus with some remote schedules subject to supervisor approval
  • Travel: Occasional travel dependent upon program needs

Salary for Announcement

Under Colorado law, MSU Denver is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary outside of the range posted in this job announcement. This range takes into account a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.

The full salary range for this position is $41,200 - $61,800. The anticipated hiring range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $51,000 - $60,000.

This position is paid monthly and is eligible for MSU Denver benefits.
