Job Description

Position Summary:

Level Three: Working without supervision, Metal Lab Tech level three performs all levels of metallurgical testing, and buying off all final lot testing, advanced knowledge of metallography, including grain flow, failure analyses and structure of metal products. Materials engineering degree preferred but not required. 5+ Years

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment interaction
  • Understanding of, and adherence to, safe laboratory practices.
  • Preparation of metallurgical specimens, via grinding, mechanical polishing or electro polishing techniques.
  • May serve in (Mechanical or Metallurgical)
  • Etching metallurgical specimens, involving handling and mixing of chemicals.
  • Hardness Testing via macro (Rockwell C) micro (Knoop)methods, IGA/IGO,ICT, Double Shear TTF Testing.
  • Performing decarburization depth analysis via micro hardness.
  • Performing Grain Flow and Grain Size evaluations.
  • Performing alpha case depth evaluations.
  • Performs analyses on NDT mounts to specifications
  • Performs analyses for Arc Burns
  • Performs Final Mounts evaluations for LB product and BM product including Weld Integrity
  • Perform all analyses on metallurgical specimens for product acceptance.
  • Participation in Round Robin and Proficiency Testing.
  • Basic trouble shooting and maintain laboratory instrumentation.
  • Participation in NadCap and AS9100 audits
  • Manage are supplies and inventories
  • Work with outside vendors for equipment support and PM's
  • Performs other functions as necessary or as assigned.
  • Ensures tools and equipment meet standards and calibration requirements.
  • Perform all tasks of Level 1 and level 2.

Required Skills:

  • The ability to read and write English.
  • Experience with microscopes (standard or inverted).
  • Mechanical Test Equipment if Required (Torque Test, Tensile, Shear, Compression, etc.)
  • Experience rating grain size and other microstructural features.
  • Experience working in Quality role for manufacturing, aerospace industry preferred.
  • Willing and able to work overtime and weekends as business needs demand
  • Exercises a high degree of care in the handling of parts to avoid damage.
  • Able to comply with company policy and procedures, including safety, quality, and attendance.

Experience & Education

  • Materials Engineering Degree preferred but not required
  • 5+ Years of Experience

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $37.25 to $46.75 US Dollar (USD) Hourly based on a variety of factors. For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company's Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 1X the Company's bonus multiple, based on the Company's performance in the applicable quarter . Employees will receive 80 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company's 401(k) plan.
