As a Cybersecurity Intern, you will play a crucial role in assisting our organization in achieving and maintaining compliance with the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) Level 2 standards. You will work closely with our compliance team to document existing policies and processes, identify gaps, and help develop new procedures to ensure adherence to CMMC requirements. Through this internship, you will gain valuable hands-on experience in cybersecurity compliance and have the opportunity to be immersed in the IT department of an innovative, R&D engineering firm. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Conduct thorough research on CMMC Level 2 standards, guidelines, and best practices
- Analyze existing policies and procedures to identify areas of compliance and non-compliance
- Identify potential gaps in our current security posture and recommend corrective actions
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of comprehensive documentation for CMMC compliance, including:
- Policies and procedures manuals
- Risk assessments
- Incident response plans
- Business continuity plans
- System security plans
- Ensure that documentation is clear, concise, and aligned with CMMC requirements
- Collaborate with team members to identify opportunities for process improvement and optimization
- Assist in the development and implementation of new processes or procedures to enhance compliance
- Maintain and update a centralized repository of compliance-related documentation
- Ensure data accuracy and integrity
- Participate in internal compliance assessments and audits
- Assist in the preparation of documentation for external CMMC assessments
Minimum Requirements
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity concepts and principles
- Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Familiarity with CMMC framework or a similar compliance standard (e.g., NIST 800-171) is preferred
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to effectively present to a group
- Solutions-oriented mindset
- Proficient in MS Office
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Laboratory/light production floor with ventilation, climate-control system, moderate lighting, and moderate noise level;
- Use finger dexterity to type, adjust, move, handle, perform, operate, install, attach, remove, apply, grasp, manipulate, and measure;
- Frequently move, transport, rotate, reach, pull, twist, adjust position, push, stoop, bend, and crouch; and
- Lift 10 to 40 pounds on a frequent basis and 40 to 80 pounds occasionally
ENGINEERING CURRICULUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field at an accredited university
