JOB SUMMARY
Works under general direction to perform systems administration duties on large-scale computer systems in a data center environment. A data center engineer's main responsibility is to ensure continuous systems and facility uptime. Knowledge of data center infrastructure (DCIM) applications and systems management. Understanding of design, configuration, and implementation related to data center network, information systems, and DC operations. This position is 100% on site.

    Bachelor's Degree In a technical field or equivalent with relevant and progressive work


  • Experience
    5 years Of job-related experience and
    3 years Of experience in a support position or role in an information systems environment


JOB DUTIES




    • Analyzes and remediates problems involving operating systems, database systems, applications, and other technologies.
    • Troubleshoots system components and recommends improvements in support of an efficient, highly available data center operation.
    • Designs and implements data system components under the direction of Managers and other levels of Systems Engineers.
    • Works to identify and propose innovative and creative solutions that enhance or increase the efficiency of the services provided by Information Resources to the campus community.
    • Develops and reviews specifications for data system components and services.
    • Assists in the development of test plans and documentation of recovery procedures.
    • Assists with the development of guidelines related to the design, implementation, and monitoring of information technology systems at a data center and other application systems.

    • Familiar with a variety of IT hardware, such as servers, cables, power systems, and cooling equipment needed to maintain the physical safety of an IT facility.
    • Perform quality assurance tests and troubleshoot hardware issues.
    • Troubleshoots system components and recommends improvements in support of an efficient, highly available center operation.
    • Managing internal projects.
    • Develop and maintain data center service offerings and establish corresponding SLAs.
    • Leads communication efforts for large-scale projects and initiatives.
    • Contributes to architecture review boards and discussions regarding solution architecture.
    • Mentoring Data Center Technicians.
    • Liaison between IT teams & Data Center.
    • Provide Data center reporting and analytics.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
