Major Responsibilities:

  • Positioning and Image Critique
    • 1)Ability to competently position patients for all exams
    • 2)Perform problem solving as it relates to physical limitations of patient during patient positioning
    • 3)Competent to perform image reviews to determine if more views are necessary to complete the exam
    • 4)Ability to select and adjust technical factors governing the imaging process
    • 5)Ability to identify artifacts on images and assist in problem solving
    • 6)Has minimum amount of repeat work
    • 7)Annual competencies
  • Competent operation in understanding of equipment and safety
    • 1)Able to operate equipment in a competent manner
    • 2)Able to modify technical factors as situation warrants
    • 3)Able to perform start up and shut down procedures on all equipment
    • 4)Ensures that images are labeled and marked correctly
    • 5)Inspect equipment on a daily basis
    • 6)Reports any malfunctions to leader. If leader is unavailable contact proper ACE for repairs if needed.
    • 7)Performs problem solving as situation warrants; ie. equipment malfunctions and physical limitations of equipment
    • 8)Handles all equipment with care
    • 9)Surgical: for c arm cases, sends key images to PACS, enters orders as appropriate, arrives, begins, and ends exam in the Epic System.
    • 10) Perform CT scans independently once trained.
  • Delivery of Patient Care
    • 1)Responsible for the welfare and care of all patients directly under their control; ie. implementation of immobilization devices as necessary for their safety and comfort
    • 2)Secures history from patients and records on appropriate form for radiologist
  • PACS, EMR, and other software
    • 1)Demonstrates the ability to arrive, begin and end studies in the EMR as well as able to enter outside order as appropriate
    • 2)Demonstrates the ability to utilize Modality Work list/or select patient in Modality, acquire and send images from the modality to PACS
    • 3)Demonstrates the ability to log into PACS and retrieve the appropriate study
    • 4)Carries out the QC process for the images in PACS.
    • 5)Selects the correct buttons for prior exams and availability.
    • 6)Determines if pertinent priors are available in PACS.
    • 7)Ensures the image link is available and working in the EMR.
    • 8)Notifies the PACS Administrator or assistant of any issues that they are not able to resolve.
    • 9)General troubleshooting- ie. splitting and merging studies, changing accession numbers.
    • 10)Ability to use IPAD interpretation services
  • Participates in professional development
    • 1)Attends and participates in department meetings
    • 2)Maintains required amounts of CME credits
    • 3)Maintains current ARRT certification/registration and State licensure
    • 4)Participates in problem solving that would improve quality for the department
    • 5)Maintains CPR certification
    • 6)Provides direction to new staff and staff in need of assistance
    • 7)Contributes to performance goals of department
  • Other Duties
    • 1)Stocks rooms as needed
    • 2)Assists other as needed
    • 3)Participates in patient education
    • 4)Participates in QC/QA testing-notifies supervisor when testing has exceeded the boundaries
    • 5)Other duties as assigned

Education/Experience Required:

  • Graduate of AMA approved school/program of Radiologic Technology

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Knowledge of radiology procedures and equipment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Previous outpatient service preferred
  • Basic computer skills with proficiency in multiple programs
  • Certified by American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) or eligible
  • Licensed by State of Wisconsin
  • Current CPR or maintain within 6 months of hire.
  • Must become CT board certified within 18 months after training completed.

  • Travel between work assignments if necessary
  • Willingness to work overtime

  • Flexible in start and end times
  • Must be able to travel to any of our x-ray sites and work any shift or day
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
