SSOE is seeking a highly skilled Engineering Manager to join our High Tech (HT) group within our Advanced Technology team at SSOE. This role is ideal for someone who has a strong engineering background, thrives in a technical leadership capacity, and is experienced in managing complex, multidisciplinary projects. If you have a passion for engineering excellence, the ability to coordinate across teams, and the leadership skills to drive project success, we want to hear from you.
Responsibilities
Work closely with various Department Managers (DM) and System Managers (SM) to develop training plans, development strategies, and to instill the culture of Continuous Improvement
- Collaborate with other Division Managers, Project Managers, and Department Managers to solve scheduling and resource allocation challenges. Using your technical expertise, you will ensure the proper staff are allocated effectively across multiple projects, disciplines, and business units, balancing workload to maximize efficiency. Explore ways to prioritize workstreams and solve resource bottlenecks, to maintain high operational standards and exceed client expectations.
- Coordinate with other SSOE offices to ensure that project teams can share resources and best practices. You will leverage your leadership to create synergies between teams and foster a culture of collaboration, enabling the delivery of seamless, high-quality services to clients. Look to help standardize workflows and improve inter-office communication, ensuring that all teams are aligned toward common objectives.
- Work closely with managers and the business development group to craft compelling proposals and presentations. Your technical knowledge will play a key role in shaping strategic pitches that demonstrate SSOE's engineering capabilities, addressing both client needs and operational realities. Provide insights into feasibility, budget considerations, and the technical aspects of potential projects, ensuring that all proposals are both ambitious and achievable.
- Support senior leadership in achieving key business goals, including financial performance. This entails monitoring profitability on a per-client and per-project manager basis and working closely with teams to take corrective actions where necessary. Pinpoint operational inefficiencies and implement solutions that drive profitability without sacrificing quality.
- Play an integral role in the annual business planning and budgeting process, ensuring that financial and operational plans align with strategic business goals. Your deep understanding of engineering operations will enable you to forecast resource needs accurately, anticipate challenges, and propose realistic budgetary solutions.
- Partnering with corporate training and development teams, you will ensure that technical training programs are aligned with both organizational needs and industry advancements. Identify skill gaps and training priorities, ensuring that team members have the necessary technical competencies to excel in their roles.
- In collaboration with the Corporate & Information Systems (C&IS) team, you will help drive decisions regarding hardware, software, and emerging technology needs. Your leadership will be essential in ensuring that teams are equipped with cutting-edge tools that enhance productivity and engineering precision.
- After the completion of each project, you will participate in post-evaluation reviews to identify key lessons learned. By facilitating these discussions, you will ensure that insights are shared across teams and that continuous improvement becomes a core element of the organization's culture.
- Serve as the project sponsor for designated high-priority projects. In this capacity, you will provide senior-level support, ensuring that the project team remains focused on the client's objectives while staying on track to meet key performance metrics. You will also manage high-level client relationships to ensure satisfaction and long-term partnership opportunities.
