How you'll make an impact:

Responsible for ensuring the quality of our service, managing the broadcast routing and scheduling of audio and associated metadata content for SIRIUS XM Satellite Radio's channels across multiple distribution platforms, with a focus on play by play sports broadcasts. You will work closely with other talented SiriusXM Broadcast Technicians in one of our Sports Broadcast Operations Centers (SBOC).

What you'll do:

  • Work shifts as business needs demand in our 24/7/365 operations centers, ensuring successful live broadcast of sports play by play events to SiriusXM customers.

  • Respond to technical alarms from the various systems in the SBOC quickly to restore signals.

  • Quality Control broadcast automation playout, anticipating and correcting errors.

  • Scheduling play by play events in traffic and automation systems.

  • Understanding and control of broadcast acquisition and distribution technology (IP, Satellite), baseband and network broadcast signal flow, and broadcast troubleshooting.

  • Real time control of systems producing content for the broadcast channels (satellite and web), including digital audio workstations, automation systems and digital audio routing systems.

  • Collaborate with other departments such as Programming and Broadcast Engineering to identify and escalate issues, and address the needs of channel programmers (talent and producers).

  • Interface with third party providers regarding play by play broadcasts.

  • Work with Programming Sports Board Operators (providing informational packets, checking in and out of broadcasts) to successfully broadcast live events.

  • Accurately ticket all on-air incidents using established procedures.

  • Follow departmental workflows as directed by management.

  • Stay alert and engaged, delivering a premium customer experience.

  • Assist in testing new software and hardware, and help with development of documentation ensuring all processes and procedures are detailed to integrate any new systems, components, or broadcast requirements.

  • Take initiative and suggest improvements to operational processes.

What you'll need:

  • BS/BA Degree and/or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

  • 2 or more years' experience in broadcast operations.

  • Familiarity with digital audio editing, quality control, broadcast automation and digital routing.

  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multitask, and work under shifting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Working on-site during weekends and holidays is required, with potential to adjust work schedule to meet business needs.

  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to interact and work with staff at all levels.

  • Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

  • Capable of making good decisions quickly and independently.

  • Ability to project professionalism using all company communication methods.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • Must have legal right to work in the U.S.

  • Familiarity with broadcast automation systems.

  • An understanding of digital audio routing systems.

  • Some technical knowledge of satellite, IP Codec, TS over IP and other broadcast technologies.

  • Ability to understand broadcast audio and metadata signal flows and use this knowledge to identify issues and troubleshoot outages.

  • Strong familiarity with Slack, Zoom, and email communication principles.

  • Knowledge of Google Enterprise Suite (Docs, Sheets) and MS-Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).

  • Familiarity with Service Now or other incident management software.

  • An understanding of broadcast system alarm logs.

At SiriusXM, we carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, including your background and experience. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary. We expect the base salary for this position to be in the range of $67,000 to $95,000 and will depend on your skills, qualifications, and experience. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives. We encourage all interested candidates to apply.
