JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Postdoc Positions in Cryo-EM Studies of Amyloids, Virus/Host Interactions, and Protein Complexes Three postdoctoral scholar positions are immediately available in the Jiang lab at Penn State University in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and the Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences. The lab is located in the Millennium Complex of Sciences with state-of-the-art instruments for cryo-EM, including Titan Krios and Talos Arctica TEMs with energy filters and direct electron detectors for single-particle cryoEM and cryo-ET, and a Hydra FIB-SEM in 2025 for in situ structural studies of cellular and tissue sections. The lab has multiple GPU workstations and access to the university computing center. The postdoctoral scholars will join an interdisciplinary team and work on cryo-EM structural studies of amyloids in neurodegenerative diseases, virus/host interactions, and protein complexes relevant to cancers using single-particle cryoEM and cryo-ET. The daily work involves cryo-EM sample preparation/screening, data collection, image processing, 3D reconstruction, and structural modeling/analyses.
