POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for designing and updating printed circuit board (PCB) assembly within the organization. This position is responsible for the design of new and modified PCBs (including layout of both analog and digital circuits) based on input from electrical and mechanical engineers, working with purchasing to obtain quotes for PCB production and managing PCB assembly vendor relations. This position may develop into a mentoring role for junior level engineers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Design and develop PCB Assemblies
  • Manage and drive PCB technology in compliance with applicable standards
  • Create, implement and process Engineering Change Request/Order (ECR/ECO
  • Partner with cross-functional groups to facilitate product definition and integration
  • Create, maintain and update the PCB component library
  • Perform process improvement/development analysis and execution
  • Create, maintain and archive associated documentation and schematics
  • Electrical engineering drawing changes, storage and maintenance
  • Document intellectual property
  • Vendor Relations
  • Evaluate potential and existing suppliers related to PCB assembly production
  • Obtain quotes for PCB assembly builds
  • Coordinate with vendors to develop and produce PCBs
  • Work in tandem with the Quality organization to support quality assurance related to PCB assemblies
  • Facilitate/assist with supplier audit activities as necessary
  • May travel to vendor sights for product quality assurance initiatives
  • May teach, train, develop and/or mentor junior level engineers
  • Specific duties may vary depending up on departmental requirements.


EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS



  • Associate's level degree with equivalent experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline preferred
  • Minimum 4 years experience in the design and development of PCB assemblies
  • Experience with PCB design tools
  • Altium Designer preferred
  • Experience in supplier quality assurance
  • ISO auditor training preferred
  • ASQ certification (CQE, CRE, CQA) preferred
  • Experience in an ISO or cGMP environment preferred


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES



  • Strong design fundamentals and analytical background
  • Logical problem solving and demonstrated ability to organize and move project tasks forward in an orderly and structured fashion
  • Demonstrate ability to independently design and execute project planning
  • Excellent oral, written communication and interpersonal skills are required
  • Effectively communicate issues/problems and results that impact timelines, accuracy and reliability of project status
  • Ability to effectively train and develop junior level engineers
  • Expert in all phases of a PCB product lifecycle
  • Understanding of ISO and/or FDA cGMP standards and their documentation requirements
  • Excellent documentation skills, technical writing and presentation skills required
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite and design tools
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected including the ability to multi-task in an environment with changing priorities


PHYSICAL DEMANDS



  • May travel for supplier audits
  • Move about the supplier facility while performing audits and inspections
  • This position requires the ability to communicate and exchange information, utilize equipment necessary to perform the job, and move about the office

COMPENSATION SUMMARY

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $76,100 to $113,200. This salary range represents a general guideline as MSD considers other factors when presenting an offer of employment, such as scope and responsibilities of the position, external market factors, and the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities, education and experience. Employees may qualify for a discretionary or non-discretionary bonus in addition to their base salary. These annual bonuses are intended to recognize individual performance and enable employees to benefit from the Company's overall success.
