SUMMARY
-
The Assistant Region Foreman estimates, plans, supervises and completes maintenance projects, construction and facility repairs. The Assistant Region Foreman will coordinate work in the absence of or directed by their Region Foreman.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-
- Operates equipment, i.e., tractors, mowers, chainsaws, string trimmers and other power equipment as needed and assist in the preventive maintenance of such equipment.
- Performs all aspects of landscape maintenance including mowing, trimming, planting, pruning, mulching, hazard tree removal and trash pick-up and disposal.
- Performs facility maintenance, construction, rehabilitation, improvements and new projects as needed.
- Supervises and coordinates all subordinates including community service and volunteers in specific maintenance and construction projects as directed by Region Foreman.
- Trains staff in the efficient and safe operation of equipment. Ensures preventive maintenance repairs are completed.
- Must follow all directed County safety procedures.
- Performs necessary work related to set up and take down for special events and programs.
- Performs routine inspections of all facilities noting needed repairs; insuring sites are safe for public use.
- Assists with natural resource management projects.
- Ensures that supplies required for daily operations and projects are available
- Makes recommendations to Region Foreman concerning projects, equipment and budget items.
- Performs snow removal duties.
- Performs all aspects of building maintenance including cleaning restrooms, offices and rental facilities.
- Routinely drives County vehicles and assists in the preventative and routine maintenance of such vehicles.
- May be required to attend professional meetings.
- Required to take training as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
-
To perform this job successfully, and individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
- Minimum five (5) years experience or combination of education and experience in building, construction or grounds/landscape maintenance and associated equipment which may include specialized trade skills. Supervisory experience is required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED. Two (2) years college or technical school preferred.
- Ability to fill out daily work forms and file required reports.
- Ability to answer questions for visitors.
- Must be able to read/write/speak English.
- Must project a pleasant and professional presence when interacting with the public.
- Must have ability to work in public areas in a safe manner.
- Ability to provide clear directions.
- Ability to communicate effectively, including basic computer skills.
- Must possess a valid Driver's License, a satisfactory driving record and the ability to maintain one throughout employment.

- Must be able to lift at least up to fifty (50) pounds (repeatedly).
- Must be able to lift and use various pieces of hand held equipment, up to twenty (20) pounds, for prolonged periods of time.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn when applicable.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
This position will be in the field. The Assistant Region Foreman may experience the following:
- Occasional exposure to chemicals, hazardous vegetation (poison ivy, etc.) and other. hazards (animals, bees, etc.) when performing their responsibilities
- Exposure to inclement weather, extreme heat, cold, snow, ice and rain.
- Required to work weekends, evenings and holidays as needed.
- Be available for emergencies outside of normal working hours.
- Will work at various sites as assigned.
- Appropriate dress and protective footwear required.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
