Summary



  • For a limited time MaineHealth is offering sign on bonuses for Medical Assistants:


  • 0-1 years of experience eligible for $4,000 (full time)
  • 1+ years of experience eligible for $5,000 (full time)
  • Eligible candidates are hired (offer accepted) into a Full or Part time MA position. Bonus amount prorated for Part time hires, per diem hires are ineligible.
  • Current MaineHealth member employees are ineligible; former MaineHealth Members are ineligible until greater than 6 months separation from employment.



  • MaineHealth Gastroenterology is looking for an experienced MA to work with our growing department to schedule patients for colonoscopies and EDGs. This position will be fully remote work after training is completed on site (approximately 3 months). Preference will be given to candidates residing within an hour of Biddeford to participate in on-site meetings and trainings.


  • As an MA scheduler your day-to-day will include answering incoming calls as well as working through our referral and recall queues and telephone interviewing of patients in need of being scheduled for a procedure. Responsibilities are verifying and entering accurate patient demographics, insurance information, medical information and orders into EPIC. You will work closely with our PREP RN team to ensure documentation regarding all pre-op visits, anti-coagulation and clearances are met. You will be part of the team who helps our patients understand how to prepare for their procedures.


  • This is a full-time role; 40 hour per week position with the opportunity for flexibility in the schedule (4 or 5 days). This ideal MA candidate would have experience working in a clinic with patients or pre/post operatively with patients. Having a good working knowledge of GLP-1 medications, anti-coagulants and being able to follow an algorithm for scheduling will help you be successful in this role.




  • Position Summary



    • The Medical Assistant (MA) role is assigned duties and responsibilities related to patient care and administrative support in a team-based environment while promoting a smooth flow of patients through the office. The Medical Assistant (MA) role functions under the license of the physician/advanced practice practitioner when performing clinical and other patient care responsibilities.




  • Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)



    • Education: High School diploma or GED preferred. Must meet one of the following requirements: Graduated from an accredited vocational institution or community college in Medical Assisting with 160 hours of clinical experience completed; or completion of an Adult Education Medical Assistant program and 6 months of clinical experience in a practice setting; or 1 year of clinical experience in a multi-provider practice setting (equivalent experience will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis).


    • License/Certifications: Current AAMA, NHA, AMT, or NCCT certification preferred or achieved within one year of eligibility. Current BLS certification required or must obtain within 30 days of start date. A NH Med Tech License, or NH EMT and National Registry EMT license is required for those positions located in New Hampshire.


    • Experience: One year of experience as a Medical Assistant or 6 months of experience and certification required.
