Position Overview

The Corporate Affairs Intern will help develop materials to communicate about the Exact Sciences brand and company to internal and external audiences, including Exact Sciences employees, advocacy groups, national partners, news media, community organizations, and government agencies. The position allows an undergraduate student to obtain hands-on writing and communications experience while contributing to the company's effort to help eradicate cancer.

This internship will be based out of our Madison, WI office location.

Essential Duties

These include but are not limited to:

  • Develop succinct, solidly written content and presentation materials that engage various audiences, including Exact Sciences employees, media, advocacy groups, community partners, and health care professionals
  • Follow and champion brand voice guidelines across multiple owned channels
  • Collaborate with other team members on various written pieces, projects, and internal and external events
  • Support presentation content development for internal events, including all-team meetings, workshops, and day-to-day communications
  • Help maintain and organize communication materials, ensuring easy access to up-to-date resources for the team
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks effectively while meeting deadlines and adapting to shifting priorities
  • Support internal review submissions and required processes for external-facing content
  • Uphold company purpose and values, demonstrating accountability, innovation, integrity, quality, and teamwork.
  • Support and comply with the company's Quality Management System policies and procedures
  • Attend work reliably and as scheduled
  • Physical requirements:
    • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds for approximately less than 1% of a typical working day
    • Ability to work seated for approximately 90-100% of a typical working day. Ability to work while standing for approximately 50% of a typical working day
    • Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 90% of a typical working day
    • Ability to grasp with both hands; pinch with thumb and forefinger; turn with hand/arm; reach above shoulder height
    • Ability to work on a computer and phone simultaneously
    • Ability to use a telephone through a headset
    • Ability to comply with any applicable personal protective equipment requirements
  • Travel requirements:
    • Ability and means to travel between among Madison locations
    • Ability to travel 10% of working time away from work location; may include overnight/weekend travel

Minimum Qualifications

  • Enrollment toward a bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Mass Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of products
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with strong interpersonal skills
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to work independently and with a team to meet deadlines
  • Excellent organizational skills and multitasking ability
  • Social media or content marketing experience
  • Experience with copy editing and using editorial style guides
  • Experience conducting story research, including interviewing subject-matter experts
  • Creative writing experience

Salary Range:

$34,000.00 - $54,000.00

The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - WI - Madison on a full-time basis.
