RECRUITMENT: The State Highway Administration's (SHA) District 1 is recruiting for two (2) temporary Shop Administrative Technician positions in Somerset and Worcester County. This is an Interview and Hire position that is open to anyone who meets the minimum qualifications listed below for this position.

Nature of Work:
The main purpose of this position is to maintain the appropriate inventory stock levels in the warehouse, by analyzing utilization reports generated from the Bradley Inventory Management System to determine when and how much to order. This position performs all data entry of the receipt of items, solicits vendors for pricing, evaluates for low bids, and award contracts to procure supplies and equipment, in accordance with the Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR) and SHA's rules and regulations. This position will be responsible for generating Bradley's end of month reports for the team leader's review and random audit of documentation and verification of disbursement. It is the responsibility of this position to provide necessary documentation from vendors, including detailed invoices on company letterhead for proper verification at SHA's accounts payable. All purchases made by this position are processed through the Corporate Purchasing Card System (CPCS). Maintaining the proper inventory levels ensures that the maintenance shop has the required equipment and supplies on hand for work crews to continue working without delays. This is an administrative support position at the maintenance shop.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Graduation from a standard high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.


Experience: One (1) year of experience performing administrative support work and/or receiving, storing, and issuing supplies, materials and equipment in a storeroom, warehouse or other supply storage facility. May require the ability to type accurately at a speed of not less than twenty words per minute.

Preferred Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should possess the following:

  • Ability to operate computer systems such as EPICS, MAXIMO, EORS, CCMS
  • Ability to receive parts and supplies, take physical inventory of supplies, materials and equipment, enter and retrieve data via personal computer
  • Experience in a warehouse/inventory distribution setting
  • Experience in procurement

Licenses & Certifications

Candidate must possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in state of Maryland.

Candidate will need to obtain the SHA SAT Level II Supply Certification within the probationary period.

Candidate may be required to obtain an SHA certification in maintenance shop storekeeping.
