Faculty Practice at UMKC School of Dentistry

Job Description

Join our dynamic team and take your career to the next level! As the Dental Faculty Practice Business Operations Manager(BOM), you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our business office and supporting our patients. The role of the Dental Faculty Practice BOM is to independently run a financially viable Dental Faculty Practice within the UMKC School of Dentistry.

Here's what you'll be doing:

Operational Excellence

  • Modeling the culture, values, standards, and best practices of the School of Dentistry and University Missouri Kansas City (UMKC) to foster an internal environment that consistently promotes these principles.
  • Assess, hire and retain team members through comprehensive training, supervision, counseling and coaching. Conduct annual and quarterly performance appraisals for business support and clinical staff.
  • Assess, investigate, and resolve staff and patient issues by analyzing the facts and circumstances to develop timely, effective, logical yet creative solutions.
  • Driving positive revenue and profit year of year
  • Management of expenses to achieve monthly goals and budget.
  • Ensure an excellent patient experience through personalized, patient-centered care
  • Audit accounts daily and weekly for accuracy.
  • Set and monitor weekly and monthly goals for staff.

Financial Coordination, Reporting and Reconciliation

  • Assist with month-end processes by generating necessary reports.
  • Reconcile deposits, ensuring accuracy and correct processing of credit cards, cash, and checks.
  • Act as the Lending Club coordinator, guiding patients through enrollment and fund requests, and managing communications for refunds.
  • Initiate patient refunds via credit card, ACH electronic, or paper check.
  • Oversee records release and monitor record accuracy.
  • Oversee accounts receivable, accounts payable, and inventory management.
  • Review collections with staff and approve accounts for collection agency referral.

Insurance Process Management

  • Manage Relationship with our insurance billing partner.
  • Oversee insurance credentialing for providers, including annual updates.
  • Maintain communication with insurance provider representatives, particularly MetLife and Delta Dental.

Support and Oversight

  • Cover duties of direct reports during their absence, including assisting at the front desk.
  • Maximize knowledge and implementation of Dentrix software through continuous learning and training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the clinic's overall success.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 4 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in a Dental Service Organization or similar dental practice.

Previous supervisory experience.

Anticipated Hiring Range

$51,875 - $80,000 annually, commensurate with experience, education, and internal equity.
