How you will make history...
Directs, develops, and implements programs in the Napoleon Plant designed to control risks and costs in the area of employee safety, health, and workers compensation.

What you will do...

  • 10% - Directs, develops, and implements plant safety policies and procedures.
  • 15% - Assists operating departments and work teams with safety issues and projects.
  • 15% - Directs, monitors, and controls workers compensation activity at the facility, the insurance carrier, and the local medical community.
  • 10% - Reviews and communicates safety statistical data involving workplace injuries and near miss reports.
  • 10% - Monitors plant for compliance with Federal, State, and local safety laws and regulations.
  • 10% - Assists Corporate Safety department with auditing and training on as needed basis.
  • 10% - Reviews with appropriate functions new designs, purchasing requirements, and operating procedures for safety and health considerations
  • Determine and recommend settlement strategies for new and existing workers compensation claims. Using data and providing a solid argument, job holder must convince upper management of appropriate settlement actions.
  • Create, review, and update safety policies, procedures, and programs in accordance with OSHA and other regulatory guidelines.
  • Ensure safety policies are communicated and accessible to all employees.
  • Ability to interpret workers compensation data as it relates to issue at hand and to provide data in a meaningful format to management.
  • Stay current on OSHA, EPA, and other relevant safety regulations.
  • Ensure the company meets all state and federal safety standards.
  • Determines root cause, recommends corrective action, and assesses effectiveness of response to various issues, such as injuries, safety inspection reports, vendor reports. For example, if an industrial hygiene assessment indicates a need for corrective action due to a high particulate level, incumbent assesses and recommends mediation options, ensures completion of same, and follows up to ensure effectiveness.

What you will bring to the table...

  • Highschool diploma or GED
  • 2 + years of experience in safety management or related field.

It would be great if you have...

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and other safety standards.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to train and influence employees at all levels.
  • Experience conducting safety audits, risk assessments, and accident investigations.
  • 2 + years of related experience in behavior-based safety, preferably in food manufacturing
  • Knowledge, skills and abilities required:
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good communication and employee interface skills

Compensation and Benefits:

The target base salary range for this full-time, salaried position is between

$92,000-$132,300

Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation. In addition, we offer competitive health, dental, 401k and wellness benefits beginning on the first day of employment.
