Overview:

The System Clinical Pharmacy Manager is responsible for overseeing the clinical pharmacy services across the health system. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based pharmaceutical care to patients, optimizing medication therapy outcomes, and promoting the safe and effective use of medications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Management:
  • Provide strategic direction and leadership for clinical pharmacy services and teams.
  • Supervise and mentor clinical pharmacy staff across multiple hospital sites.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance clinical pharmacy practice.
  • Clinical Services:
  • Oversee the development and implementation of clinical pharmacy programs.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize medication therapy management.
  • Education and Training:
  • Develop and coordinate educational programs for pharmacy staff, healthcare providers, and patients.
  • Promote continuous professional development and training for clinical pharmacists.
  • Quality Improvement:
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives related to medication use and safety.
  • Monitor and evaluate clinical pharmacy services to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Conduct and support clinical research and evidence-based practice initiatives.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
  • Foster collaborative relationships with other healthcare professionals and departments.
  • Serve as a liaison between the pharmacy department and other clinical services.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.


Travel Requirements:
This position requires occasional travel. Overall, travel will not exceed 20% of the total job time, including attendance at meetings, site visits and other work-related events.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Experience in clinical pharmacy practice, drug cost and formulary management, project management required. Minimum of 5 years of clinical pharmacy experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role strongly preferred.
  • Required Education: Requires an advanced pharmacy degree with clinical practice emphasis. Management training, in addition to clinical training, is also a benefit.
  • Certifications: PGY-1 strongly preferred, PGY-2 preferred, Board certification in a relevant clinical specialty (e.g., BCPS, BCACP) strongly preferred.
  • Other: Strong knowledge of clinical pharmacy practice, medication therapy management, and regulatory requirements. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
