Job Description

Are you an experiencedSystems Administratorwith demonstrated experience supporting DoD requirements? Join our Joint Staff J-8 team at the Pentagon!

As aSystems Administratoryou will:



  • Performhigh level functional and IT analysis.
  • Managedaily activities of configuration and operation of business systems which may be mainframe, mini, or client/server, based.
  • Optimizesystem operation and resource utilization, and performsystem capacity analysis and planning.

A week in the life of aSystems Administrator:



  • Provides assistance to users in accessing and using computer system.
  • Maintains organization's servers and workstations. Installs new software releases, system upgrades, evaluates and installs patches and resolves software related problems.
  • Performs system backups and recovery.
  • Maintains data files and monitors system configuration to ensure data integrity.
  • Applies principles and methods to difficult problems in technical areas to arrive at automated solutions.
  • Designs and prepares technical reports and related documentation, and makes charts and graphs to record results.
  • Prepares and delivers presentations and briefings.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelors' degree from an accredited college or university with a curriculum or major field of study in computer science, information system plus three (3) years of task related experience; OR
  • Associates' degree from a college or university with a curriculum or major field of study in computer science, information system, plus six (6) years task related experience; OR
  • Applicable training certificate issued in accordance with guidelines provided by the software vendor (i.e. Microsoft MCSE/MCSA, Oracle DBA,) from an accredited training institution plus ten (10) years of task related experience.
  • All System Administrators require the clearance and capability to perform duties on networks operating at the SIPR, SCI and SAP levels.
  • Certified in compliance with DoDD 8570.01m as an IAT level 2, including an operating system / computing environment certification from an accredited training institution or center for specified software.

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary/hourly range for this position is $110,000 - $135,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
