Preferred Qualifications

  • Expertise in graphic design, photography, and videography, with a strong understanding of optimizing content for digital channels - web, email, social, etc.
  • Proficient in social media platform (Hootsuite, Sprout Social, etc.); graphics Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.) and email (MailChimp, GAIL, Constant Contact).
  • Experience in an agency and/or higher education environment.
  • Knowledgeable in accessibility compliance best practices, especially for digital marketing and social media platforms.

Position Summary
Franklin College of Arts and Sciences, named in honor of Benjamin Franklin, is the heart of University of Georgia's liberal arts learning environment. The research, scholarship and creative output by the faculty and students in more than 80-degree programs set the place for a dynamic environment at Georgia's flagship institution.
The Franklin College of Arts and Sciences is seeking a highly creative, detail-oriented and dynamic individual to grow and enhance its digital marketing and social media platforms in an inaugural role. Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Content Strategy, the Digital Engagement and Social Media Specialist will create a process for cultivating, creating and leveraging content across social media and digital channels to showcase the vibrant student experience, cutting-edge research, and academic innovations within the Franklin College. This incumbent is responsible for developing and executing a plan for digital content to support the College's strategic communications and marketing efforts.
In this role the individual will be building a new platform and will use best practices and trends in digital marketing, be a visible and engage member of the campus community, possess excellent multimedia content creation skills along with writing and proofreading skills, be able to work both independently and collaboratively and understand how to build and engage a digital audience. This employee will also monitor account activity and lead the College's efforts to remain relevant, engaging and on the leading-edge of digital and social media content that effectively tells the Franklin College story and communicates its strong history of success and its bold culture.
The Digital Engagement and Social Media Specialist works collaboratively with communications colleagues, department members, faculty, students, alums, corporate sponsors and more to develop write, edit and publish content that informs, inspires and educates internal and external audiences.
A successful candidate will have strong written and visual communications skills along with project management mindset to take a project from concept to production while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

  • Extensive experience in digital marketing - website, emails, social media, SEO, CMS, CRM, etc.
  • Deep knowledge of social media platforms, current trends, and performance analytics
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, strong AP Style background
  • Strong grasp of design principles, layout, and brand identity; proven experience adhering to established brand guidelines
  • Proficient in graphic design software and multimedia content creation
  • Keen attention to detail with project management skills

  • Assist in creating and executing a comprehensive digital communications strategy aligned with the University's broader goals and initiatives.
  • Develop and implement a content process to curate and create content with a distribution process that leverages content across multiple audiences and channels.

    • Determine technology and process flow.
    • Develop process for review/proofing as well as cadence and message consistency.
    • Ensure adherence with AP style, UGA and Franklin College brand guidelines



  • Develop and oversee processes for student content submissions.
    • Create student brand ambassadors to generate original and authentic student content team to source and produce authentic and relevant content that resonates with our audience.

  • Develop specific digital marketing strategy for the Dean - audiences, channels, cadence and calendar.
  • Serve as a resource for Franklin College colleagues, offering guidance on digital marketing best practices and compliance with university policies.
  • Serve as part of the College's crisis team, utilizing digital channels in support of communication.

  • Create and oversee a content calendar that strategically reflects College priorities and messaging promoting stories, events and initiatives of the College including interdisciplinary research, milestones, key dates, and traditions to ensure timely and relevant posts.

    • Generate, schedule, monitor, share and administer social media for Franklin accounts.



  • Establish metrics and utilize analytics tools to track campaign performance, make data-driven adjustments, and provide regular reports to guide decision-making.
  • Stay updated on emerging digital marketing and social media trends and platforms to continuously optimize the College's digital presence.
    • Advise leadership on trends and make recommendations for engagement.

  • Develop engaging campaigns, posts, graphics, videos, and other multimedia content to drive audience engagement and highlight/amplify key college initiatives and programs.

    • Photograph/video events, people, activities as well as create graphics to generate content.
    • Write copy and edit photos/video for digital use.
    • Design graphics for digital use using Cana, Adobe Illustrator/InDesign.



  • Generate email campaigns in support of the College's initiatives (experience with tool such as GAIL, Constant Contact, MailChimp Oversee electronic newsletters.

    • Work with academic units/department to create guidelines, design template and establish calendar and cadence.
    • Utilize paid media channels as needed to support the College's strategic communications and marketing objectives.


  • Ensure all digital content adheres to established branding and messaging standards.
    • Serves as a primary visual brand ambassador - ensuring consistency across the College.
