The Undergraduate Admissions Office is the primary point of contact for a traditional first year student, transfer, or non-traditional adult student seeking admission to East Carolina University. The office is responsible for identifying and recruiting potential applicants with outstanding academic ability and potential and assisting in the application process to completion. |
Job Duties |
The Senior Associate Director of Admissions works under the general direction of the Director of Admissions and is responsible for the creation, design, and implementation of policies, processes, and procedures for recruitment. This role leads a professional team of Undergraduate Admissions associate and assistant directors and travel recruitment staff, coordinating the planning of recruitment events such as open houses, Pirates Aboard, high school and community college counselor receptions, on campus visits, outreach events, and action oriented high school and community college visits across the region, state, and/or national territories. The Senior Associate Director oversees the planning processes from concept to execution, ensuring an engaging experience for attendees, analyzing event data to continuously improve future experiences. This impactful role showcases East Carolina University to prospective students and families, collaborating with internal and external partners to create a unified message across all events. Develop tactics and strategies for gaining new markets and for maintaining enrollment strength in existing markets, while demonstrating the highest commitment to outstanding customer service. Travels and participates in on and off campus recruitment events to meet recruitment and enrollment goals of the University.
50% Manages and oversees all recruiting operations of the Office of Admissions by:
* Leading, monitoring and coordinating all activities of the associate director, assistant directors, and travel recruitment unit
* Developing and monitoring comprehensive territory management plan
* Designing and implementing data analysis strategy to track recruitment activities and establish predictive models
* Establishing relationships with high school and community college counselors to promote the institution
* Ensuring that the Office of Admissions provides each visiting prospective student and families with a high quality, positive campus visitation experience that is tailored to each student's needs and gives them the kind of experience that encourages their application for admission and ultimate decision to enroll at East Carolina University
* Acting as liaison and point of contact and coordinating, as necessary, with colleges and departments for all undergraduate recruiting activities
* Representing the Office of Admissions to prospective students, their families, and alumni while promoting higher education and the recruitment of quality students to the university
* Developing communication plans in coordination with marketing and the Director of Admissions that involve recruiting and yielding of students (including emails, print publications, text messages, website content, digital ads, etc.) to increase application submissions and generate interest in East Carolina University from prospective students.
40% Assist and lead enrollment management initiatives in the Office of Admissions by:
* Communicating effectively with various university constituencies and assisting and leading efforts of the Office of Admissions with key campus offices (specifically Registrar, Orientation, Student Development, Housing, and other key campus partners) to facilitate a seamless suite of services and emphases as students move through the recruitment cycle from the point of application to the point of commitment to the university and enrollment
* Working with IT Support/Operations to ensure that key recruiting campaigns within the Customer Relationship Management (
CRM) system are properly developed and implemented
* Working cooperatively and leading the coordination effort with the colleges and academic departments to promote and implement strategic university enrollment management goals
* Assisting the Director with creation, coordination and synchronization, and evaluation of a strategic recruiting plan to recruit a high-ability student population
* Planning, assigning, directing, and evaluating the work of all the travel recruitment staff, associate and assistant directors, and ensuring that quality work is accomplished within budget
- Travel to high schools, community colleges, college fairs, student/parent events, and other programs to support the travel recruitment staff in meeting the enrollment needs of the university
10% Promoting staff development and training by:
* Providing leadership and setting a high standard of professionalism for the Office of Admissions by providing high-quality customer service not only to students and the general public but also to divisional and university staff
* Assisting the Director in maintaining a positive, efficient, and productive work environment in the Office of Admissions
* Serving as a key member of the office leadership team.
* Working to ensure professional development of assistant directors, associate directors, and travel recruitment staff
* Working to promote good relationships with the University, with all University partners, and University constituents

Minimum Education/Experience |
- Master's degree
- Five years of progressive experience in undergraduate admission with at least three years of experience in student admissions, student recruitment or related area in a post-secondary institution
- Demonstrated experience and supervision of others in program initiation, planning development, administration, record-keeping, evaluation, and leadership, including two years in a leadership capacity supervising professional staff.
- Position requires a valid driver's license or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of the date of hire. A valid driver's license must be maintained as a condition of employment. Ability to rent vehicle.

- Demonstrated collaboration skills to involve faculty, staff, and current students in recruitment
- Excellent analytical and organizations skills
- Possess a sophisticated understanding of the applications of technology to the functions of the Office of Admissions (e.g. Banner, CRM)
- Ability to investigate best practices via involvement with state, regional, and/or national organizations (e.g. NACAC, CACRAO, AACRAO)
