Summary

Responsible for performing maintenance and upkeep duties of City parks, grounds, buildings, athletic fields, and related facilities.

Target Hiring Range: Starts at $15.00 - $17.00 per hour, depending on qualifications

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate tractor with mower attachments, including one-ton truck with trailer, riding mower, edger, line trimmer, backpack blower, push lawnmower, etc.

  • Collect litter and debris from parks, grounds, buildings, athletic fields, and related facilities and properly dispose.

  • Complete work according to City safety policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma

  • No experience required

Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the job's essential functions.

Preferred Qualifications

Education/ Experience:

  • Up to 1 year experience in park maintenance, operating trucks, tractors, or related equipment

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Basic knowledge of operating equipment in a safe manner

  • Basic knowledge of grounds maintenance and heavy equipment

  • Basic knowledge of the materials and the ability to operate equipment used to work up and prepare ball fields

  • Skill in operating smaller park maintenance equipment

  • Ability to work in a team environment

  • Ability to pick up litter and debris, clean playgrounds, and generally police all park recreational areas and facilities

Licenses and Certifications
  • Valid Class C Texas driver's license

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

The incumbent works with frequent exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards. The majority of work is performed outside or with risk exposure. May be exposed to extremes of heat and cold, rain, humidity, wetness, insects, noxious odors, fumes, and physical stress from exertion and lifting. Exposed to physical exertion such as bending, lifting, stooping, reaching, pulling, and pushing. Ability to lift 50 pounds.
