Summary of Position
Under general supervision of designated supervisor, install, maintain, and repair building system equipment components including but not limited to; motors, pumps, bearings, fan coils, exhaust systems, filters, emergency lighting, dining specific equipment, grease traps, etc. Responsible for providing excellent customer service and producing the highest quality of building equipment maintenance work.
UNH Facilities is a 24/7/365 operation and has responsibilities related to campus safety and emergency response. Due to the nature of our business, employees may be asked to flex schedules and/or respond to requests outside of normal working hours in order to meet the demands of the university. This may include early morning, evening, weekend, and holiday work as needed.

This is a first shift position. The hours of this position are Monday through Friday 7am - 3:30pm.

Other minimum qualifications

  1. Valid motor vehicle operator's license
  2. A combination of education, certifications, and work experience equal to 1 year, in different aspects of building mechanics, including but not limited to: diagnosing problems with mechanical drives, fans, motors, replacement of bearings and shafts, annual overhauls of pumps and motors.
  3. Ability to operate our UNH lift and understand safety procedures
  4. Knowledge of methods, tools and hazards of the trade.
  5. Ability to inspect equipment, determine malfunction and make necessary repairs.
  6. Knowledge and ability to use computers, tablets, smart phones, and software systems to perform work duties.
  7. Sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform duties and responsibilities of this job, including heavy work with exposure to inclement weather conditions for prolonged periods of time.
  8. Must be able to wear and use appropriate personal protective equipment as necessary.


Additional Preferred Qualifications

  1. Electrical Safety 70E, Bearings, Bearing and Shaft Seal Maintenance, Pump Installation, Repair and Maintenance; Heating Systems Equipment, System troubleshooting

  2. OSHA 10 certified within the first year

Duty/Responsibility
Service Calls and Customer Service

  1. Respond to service calls and requests related to the operation, repair, maintenance and installation and removal of various building mechanical equipment.
  2. Ensure work is of the highest quality while meeting all building codes and safety requirements. Troubleshoot minor and complex finishes related issues and provide expert knowledge on solutions.
  3. Utilize the work management software to maintain accurate records of work completed, materials used and time expended.
  4. May participate in the on-call rotation and respond to emergency situations, including during off hours, as needed.
  5. Perform related duties as assigned.



Duty/Responsibility
Project Work and Preventative Maintenance

  1. Perform preventive maintenance and repair/replacement work on building equipment and systems.
  2. Update and maintain records in the work management software and provide equipment condition assessments.
  3. Perform related duties as assigned.

Administrative Tasks

  1. Works effectively and cooperatively with members of the Facilities Management team, University administration, the campus community, and external clients and customers
  2. Document time and work through IWMS system, Time Keeping Systems
  3. Perform related duties as assigned.
