The Associate is responsible for monitoring collateral and related documents for commercial and small business loans. The incumbent's responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide information to internal and external clients

  • Identify, research, solve and/or respond to requests, inquiries, and problem situations in a timely manner

  • Review loan documentation to appropriately input collateral, document and related party data into loan accounting systems and document inventory systems

  • Communicate with state/local jurisdiction, attorneys, and internal/external clients and third party vendors

  • Perform follow-up on outstanding documents and exceptions, to include verifying original documentation and document recordation

  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes to increase control and efficiency

  • Review daily work to ensure accuracy and compliance with policies and procedures

  • Build relationships with respective business units and other internal partners to align needs and provide support

  • Assist management to design and implement inter-departmental controls and risk reducing processes

  • Ability to come onsite to into the Richmond, VA hub location at a maximum of twice per week to collect documents, obtain signatures and/or to get documents notarized

The Ideal Candidate will:

  • Perform their duties with limited supervision and have few errors

  • Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines

  • Have excellent organizational and time management skills

  • Possess excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate with borrowers and all levels of Bank management

  • Be self-motivated and able to support and initiate change in periods of uncertainty and ambiguity

  • Possess the ability to work independently and in a team environment

  • Understand the principles relating to the perfection of security interests in Commercial collateral

  • Knowledge of commercial and small business loan accounting systems, such as ACBS or ALS

  • Detail oriented

  • Have the ability to lift boxes weighing up to 25 pounds

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification

  • At least 2 years experience in lien perfection processes, including real estate and Uniform Commercial Code (UCC)

  • At least 2 years of experience with Commercial or Small Business loan documentation

  • At least 1 year of experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) or Google Suite (Sheets, Slides, Docs)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Military experience

  • 3+ years experience in a financial institution handling collateral, documenting loans or working in loan operations
