Materials Management Clerk (Mail Services)

The Material Management Clerk is responsible for providing materials management services to all Clinic departments and staff. Includes activities associated with inventory supply management, distribution and receiving functions.

Job Relationships

Reports to the Purchasing Manager or Supply Chain Manager

Principal Responsibilities



  • Verify receipts, note damages and shortages, and complete appropriate documentation.
  • Deliver goods from store room to appropriate departments/areas.
  • Scan process inventory items to proper departments/areas.
  • Comply with the Springfield Clinic incident reporting policy and procedures.
  • Adhere to all OSHA and Springfield Clinic training & accomplishments as required per policy.
  • Provide excellent customer service and adhere to SC Way customer service philosophy.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.


Education/Experience



  • High School graduate or GED required.


Licenses/Certificates



  • Must maintain valid Illinois driver's license


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



  • Knowledge of requisitioning procedures, receiving documentation procedures, use of equipment and location of inventory items as obtained through on-the-job training. Knowledge of medical products preferred.
  • Must be a self-starter who is willing to investigate and solve problems including some independent decision making.
  • Ability to adapt to changing levels of work with a minimum of direct supervision.
  • Knowledge or experience with a computerized inventory and receiving system.
  • Good communication and mathematical skills.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Must possess manual dexterity for use of calculator and computer keyboard.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs.
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions.


Working Environment



  • Requires sitting and standing for periods of time working in a store room environment.
  • Telephone usage required.
  • Lifting, bending and stretching required.
