Job Overview: Join our innovative engineering team as a Test Stand Engineering and Analysis Co-op with our R&D Test Lab in Mentor, Ohio. In this exciting internship, you will support the development, installation, and calibration of test stands while also assisting with advanced analysis projects, including Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in aerospace engineering and contribute to cutting-edge projects. You will have the chance to work across three different groups, enhancing your learning and professional development. Key Responsibilities:
- Test Stand Development: Assist in the design, development, and installation of production pressure, flow, and spray test stands for various aerospace applications.
- Calibration and Maintenance: Support the calibration, and maintenance of test stands, ensuring they meet industry standards and specifications.
- Troubleshooting: Help diagnose and resolve issues related to test stand performance and instrumentation.
- FEA and CFD Support: Participate in FEA and CFD simulations to analyze structural integrity and fluid dynamics of components and systems.
- Model Development: Assist in developing and validating simulation models to predict performance under various operating conditions.
- Collaboration: Work closely with engineers in the analysis team to provide insights and recommendations based on analysis results, contributing to design improvements.
- Documentation: Help prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings and results to the team.
Qualifications:
- Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Electrical Engineering, or another closely related field.
- Experience: Relevant coursework or projects in test stand engineering, FEA, and CFD analysis is preferred.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a focus on learning and improvement.
- Communication: Good verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration and documentation.
- Team Player: Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment, fostering collaboration and innovation.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with analysis software such as ANSYS, CREO, LabVIEW, or MATLAB is a plus.
- Availability: Must be available for at least 40 hours a week during both spring and summer 2025.
