Are you ready to make your mark?If you're a Facilities Specialist Electrician, we have an exciting opportunity for you! This position reports to the Facility Manager and performs installation, maintenance and trouble shooting of electrical power distribution systems and the building equipment associated to these systems.

What you will be doing

Essential Functions

  • Provides consulting and information around basic electrical activities.
  • Connects wiring to both equipment and distribution panels.
  • Pulls wiring through conduit, may be assisted by an electrician helper.
  • Tests electrical circuits to ensure compatibility and safety of components, using testing instruments, such as
  • ohmmeter or voltmeter.
  • Installs control and distribution apparatus, such as switches, relays, and circuit breaker panels.
  • Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles and installs electrical conduit, using various tools.
  • Responsible for the upkeep and Preventative Maintenance (PM's) on switch gears, transformers and
  • distribution panels.
  • Uses equipment manufacture's documentation and service specifications to calculate wire size, conduit size
  • and current protection devices requirements.
  • Purchases and verifies specifications of received electrical materials.
  • Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials.
  • Utilizes a variety of tools (i.e., saws, benders, pullers, etc.) to install conduit, power poles, outlet boxes and
  • wiring.
  • Ensures that all installations are functioning properly and safely.
  • Trains and mentors less experienced members of the team
  • Performs upkeep, equipment enhancements, parts inventory, etc. for all aspects of the electrical utilities.
  • Updates and maintains documentation in agreement with equipment and system changes.
  • Observes functioning of installed equipment or systems to detect hazards and need for adjustments,
  • relocation, or replacement.
  • Consults with/is a liaison for work performed by outside contractors.

Other Functions

  • Must be a team player.
  • Works in a self directed environment.
  • Performs a variety of maintenance work tasks that may not be related to the electrical field.
  • Purchases and verifies specifications of received electrical materials.
  • Assists others as an electrical consulting activity information source.
  • Performs scheduled & non-scheduled preventive maintenance on equipment and systems.
  • Must be willing to take responsibility for the upkeep, equipment enhancements, parts inventory, etc. for all
  • aspects of the electrical utilities.
  • Acts as a consultant/liaison for work performed by outside contractors.
  • Must have the ability and willingness to act as a trainer/mentor for the less experienced members of the
  • team.
  • Understanding of electrical circuitry, and all related components.
  • The ability to adhere to department safety rules regarding eye and ear protection, personal protection, hazard
  • labeling, MSDS sheets, evacuation procedures
  • The ability to write effectively, to read and understand work documents, to communicate information clearly
  • to coworkers and supervisors, and the ability to listen attentively and comprehend key pieces of spoken
  • information.
  • The ability to perform simple arithmetic computations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and
  • division correctly, using whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and percentages.
  • Solid ability to operate a variety of test instruments and hand tools.
  • The ability to define, diagnose, and resolve problems. This also includes the ability to acquire and apply new
  • knowledge and skills. This includes seeking, logically examining, and interpreting information from different
  • sources to determine a problem's cause and developing a course of action to resolve the problem and to
  • prevent its reoccurrence.
  • The ability to accurately provide the information requested on specific forms, reports, and logs. This includes
  • generating or transcribing appropriate words, numbers, or symbols to complete written or computerized
  • forms, reports, or logs.
  • Will have to work overtime and some weekends with short notice. Will be on-call after normal business hours.

Education

  • High School Diploma required

Experience

  • 2- 5 years experience of related work

Licenses and Certifications

  • California Contractor's License C-10
